Velocity Central One Month Review.

Posted by db09, 03-14-2013, 01:42 AM
I'll break this down by section to hopefully give you a good idea of my experience and opinion of Velocity Central after one month. How I found them I was originally looking for a shared account that had specific video tools for a project I had in mind when someone suggested I check out Velocity Central. They seemed to have everything I was looking for and the price was right so they immediately went to my short list. Velocity's Website I like the design of Velocity's website a lot. It is crisp, clean and easy to navigate. Whomever designed it an outstanding job. My only gripe about the site is the Knowledgebase, or lack-thereof. There are two, maybe three articles. As a frequent user of hosting company knowledgebases, I think it may take a lot strain off support if they took the time to fill it with relevant articles. I'd also appreciate access to WHMCS' "Server Status" page just to see where everything is at but I understand why some hosts restrict access to the page. Sign Up I ended up finding an incredible deal for a reseller account so I figured, what the heck and signed up. Sign up was painless and I had my login details within a matter of minutes. They were also nice enough to create my custom nameservers for me which was a nice touch. [b]Service (The Actual Hosting{/b} I've been running a moderately busy Wordpress site, fullmoon.eodiv.com on the server for a couple of weeks now and have been pleased with the server's performance. One thing that always concerns me is that the server load in cPanel is always high but memory usage is low and I've noticed no significant slowdown on my site. I've been monitoring with Pingdom and have not noticed any downtime so points for that as well. Support Here is where Velocity Central has been really hit or miss. After signing up, it took maybe an hour or so for support to get my nameservers set up which was nice. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse. I put a ticket in requesting the paths to several tools on the server and didn't get a response for 8 hours. The only reason I got one then was because I updated the ticket requesting if anything had been done. In the end, I still never did get the paths to the server tools so that went unresolved..not good. On the flip side of that token, I sent in a quick ticket tonight with a brief question and got a response within 5 minutes. So, as I said, it seems support is really hit or miss. Overall *** out of 5. For the price that I paid, I really can't complain if things aren't tip-top perfect. Everything, minus that one support issue has been just fine thus far. I'm signed on for a year with Velocity Central so I'll be sure to update this thread as time passes.
