Eleven2 UK
Posted by magicvorlon, 02-08-2012, 10:15 AM |
During my search for a decent reseller or vps company that has servers in the UK, I came across Eleven2 formerly Sharkspace. I noticed they have availability in the UK. I emailed them asking about the facility they are using and got the reply "Equinix". Was hoping for more information but I guess that will be enough.
Equinix in my eyes are a fantastic facility (to me arguably the best), I have used them in the States through PowerVPS.
Is anyone using the Eleven2 UK reseller plans and can offer their experiences?
Thanks.

Reason: Wrong company!

We use 100TB servers there. They are all dual quad core Xeon - 24GB Ram - 4x 1TB Raid 10 and we have full IPMI access in case of any issues. They work really great for us.

Just wanted to clarify that is only for our UK servers. All servers we have in the US we own and operate ourselves.

I use Eleven2 for my personal blog and email and have been with them since they were Sharkspace, I can't comment on the reseller aspect of things as I have a shared account, but as far as their customer support goes it's absolutely top notch - you can expect a reply within 10 minutes. Servers are always fast and reliable. Literally nothing to complain about, and I'm very good at spotting problems. They are currently moving my website from the US server it's on now to a UK server for me.

Hi
is it just this host your looking at or any decent hosting company?

Posted by jimothy, 02-09-2012, 07:16 AM |
First UK server they put me on I had constant downtime. I spoke to Rodney and he moved me to a new one. It was fine, but lately (this week) its been going down every now and then. Twice this week. Support just tell me "apache wasn't starting" or "there was a problem with apache on this server" or other generic stuff like that.

You can search for reviews in WebHostingTalk, you will find too many reviews.

I used to use them as a reseller and might use them again but last time I did have a few problems with the support as it took 48 hours at one point to reply to my support ticket although the support is brilliant over live support chat so I would recommend them in that aspect.

Interesting, I wasn't aware there were many (any?) other hosting companies using Equinix (or at least the new ones, in London). Which facility in certain?

Still considering using their UK service to host a couple of sites of mine. Anyone else offer their thoughts on them?

Since it seems that the management team of Eleven2 US and UK is same, I would not think you would have any problems.
Besides, if it's just about 'giving a try', then I think they would be your best bet.

BEWARE OF ELEVEN2.
I'm on the R-200 reseller program 3 months now, and it's a nightmare. If you want I can show you the tickets I've submitted. I have stopped dealing with these guys for a few days now. They oversell and the UK server I'm on is overloaded.
Currently I have the alertra plan constantly checking on one domain, I'll show the results at the end of the month, so people know what a ripoff eleven2 is.
Save your money, you'll regret it as I did. I'm currently searching for someone else, europe based.

I'm on the R-200 reseller too, since 10 days, and have problems installing a Ruby app and the sites are many times very slow. Hope in a change, otherwise I move versus other reseller, europe based.

It's Rodney, not Rodbey
|
Posted by Avionicom, 04-11-2012, 04:25 AM |
Yes, and just now they said me that now the site loads fast.
Infact the site now is loading well. But I want a stable hosting provider, a provider that do not create any issues for my customers anytime. Their technical support is very fast but I noted that sometimes do not answer appropriately. But this is my opinion, an opinion of only ten days with them, so maybe I'm wrong.
|
Posted by Kevin Hillstrand, 04-11-2012, 04:28 AM |
Do you mind sharing some screenshots/snippets of the ticket conversation log? How are they not answering appropriately? Could be a simple misunderstanding.
|
Posted by Avionicom, 04-11-2012, 04:44 AM |
Kevin, for privacy reasons and fairness versus Eleven2, I don't want to share a conversation log. I can only say that I tried to install redmine (Ruby on Rails application) myself, but for lack of experience I didn't succeed. So I asked for their support via chat. Via chat they said me that if I opened the ticket they install the app for me.
So I opened the ticket 8 days ago. Soon after the ticket they said me that can't install the app but only provide support in case of errors. So I tried myself to reinstall the app and had several errors. Errors that comes from an incorrect server configuration. After that they tryed to install the app from the scratch, but had my same problems.
Summarizing, after 8 days and more than 30 messages I'm here waiting for their support to solve this issue. Now they said that have contacted CPanel.
My question is: is it possible that they never installed before a well known app like redmine?
Anyway, I repeat, for the rest the support has been very quickly and efficient in my short experience with them.

I know very well Eleven2, offer an excellent service. Contact Rodney he solves the problem.
I have tried many hosting companies, resellers, everyone has problems, Eleven2 for me is the best.
Other companies (I will not say her name) always have problems: server down, slow sites, e-mail is not working and many other problems.
Eleven2 until now is the best.

Thank you for sharing your experience.
I see in this forum that many of you have a good experience with Eleven2 and this has been for me the reason for choosing them.
I hope they will maintain the promises.

I too at first I had some problems, I contacted Rodney and he has solved.
Now it is more than a year, I've had no problems.
|
Posted by Avionicom, 04-11-2012, 06:12 AM |
Your evidence is more important for me, because I've seen you come from italy like me. So if you say that now do not have problems I believe you.
Question: how many sites do you have hosted in your space? And which is the average of space/bandwidth occupied?
Thank you in advance for your answers.
|
Posted by Lanfr, 04-11-2012, 06:17 AM |
Dipende da quanto spazio e banda consumano i siti sul server, su Eleven2 in questo momento ho 130 siti.
Depends on how much space and bandwidth consuming sites on the server, Eleven2 of right now I have 130 sites.
|
Posted by Avionicom, 04-11-2012, 06:40 AM |
Caspita! Pensavo di meno. Allora sto più tranquillo ora. Infatti avevo paura che a regime quando mettevo più siti avrei avuto problemi. Ma se mi dici che hai 130 siti e non hai problemi...
Great! Then I can be quiet. I was afraid of when I'll go to regime with hundred of sites, but if you say that have 130 sites without problems...
Thank you

All is back online now. We had a SINGLE ip address that was DDOS'd at 9Gb/s. This is now removed and the client involved is being removed.
This server was online the entire time and all other IP address (dedicated IP clients and resellers) were working just fine.
If you have any further questions, please submit a ticket through your account at eleven2.com/brain

Stay away from Eleven2. Their Server are super slow and they don't have any headache about server loads and site being slow ! They just post offers and want to get as much as customers ! >

you want my advice, transfer the sites of your customers to another provider, forget eleven2.
I moved all my sites to another provider, and now they work fine.
I asked for a refund after 2 weeks the sites do not work well, had not repaid anything.
So, a service that does not work, no refund, I leave to you the conclusions.

Patriot server is down from oct 21st
|
Posted by Tom,, 10-26-2012, 06:53 AM |
This is getting ridiculous. I've been having problems for a week now on the Eleven2 Patriots server.
This is how Eleven2's support system works -
You speak to live chat. "My sites are down, please can you look into this and let me know what the problem is".
They reply along the lines of. "Please submit a ticket and we'll look into this". What is the point of having live chat when they do f all and ask you to submit tickets. Every single chat has resulted in me submitting a ticket.
Okay, so I submit a ticket and I might be lucky to get a reply after 5 or 6 hours. The replies are all along the lines of "Your site is working fine from our end" or "Our senior admin is looking into this". Well you know what, he can look at it all he likes but he's not fixing it is he..
So, I've submitted a ticket and used live chat. Neither of which have been helpful at all. So I send an email to Rodney and Nick Hudson on September 23rd, as of yet - NO REPLY!
Great!
I've had problems before with other hosting companies however they work with you to get the problem fixed. I wouldn't normally post a bad review on here however this really is another level.

I sent dozen of tickets on last weekend without of reply. And lot of tickets in last days.
If you have a problem theis support is great, but if you have a site down issue their strategy is the silence.
I sent an email to Nick Hudson and... no reply
I'm loosing almost all my furious clients. And my reputation is gone together with patriots.

Hi Everyone,
There is a very similar thread being discussed about the "Patriots" server here: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...1201218&page=4 If you're interested, I have posted an official response/more information there for everyone on the affected server.
A few important notes to add here: the server has not been "offline" since the 21st, but it has been "up and down" due to persistent and targeted DDoS attacks/floods. I explain the situation more thoroughly in the other thread.
For those of you who have reached out to Nick or Rodney directly, as you might imagine, they're both a bit swamped and behind on their inboxs' with many customers trying to contact them directly about these issues. They're buried, but if you messaged them you will get a personal reply.
A recent poll of eleven2's customers informed us that an overwhelming 75.5% of respondents prefer to receive support via live chat - with this in mind we're going to be making some changes (unrelated to the DDoS attacks on patriots) to improve the support flow for customers seeking help on live chat.
Lastly, it goes without saying, we are incredibly sorry for the downtime and frustration experienced as a result of these issues on patriots. We got all sites back online early this morning, and are continuing to work on the more permanent solution so that this doesn't just happen all over again in a few hours when the attacker shifts focus. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding throughout the process.
|
Posted by Tom,, 10-26-2012, 09:22 AM |
My sites are still offline and have been up and down (more the latter) for the last 4 hours.
|
Posted by darwin7, 10-26-2012, 09:31 AM |
I will forward this to my furious clients that are gone and wanna see if they return with their websites.
My business is seriously at risk thanks to Patriots.
p.s.: I sent the first ticket on last 21st and I got a response 10 hours later. This is not respect for your clients.
|
Posted by Brendan Diaz, 10-26-2012, 09:39 AM |
Tom & darwin7,
I understand you wanting to keep discussing this publicly on WHT because you are frustrated, and want the world to know about it... I really don't blame you... but if you'd like me to answer specific questions about your accounts you really need to contact me directly off WHT (my PM box is full 90% of the time) with ticket IDs, account #s, etc. There is not much I can do for you here.
Keep in mind, I acknowledged that the current fix is temporary, and we have something more permanent in the pipe (not for the distant future, something we're working on immediately).
Guys, we're obviously losing business and money over this situation as well, and it sure doesn't make us look good. We have every incentive to deal with this issue as quickly and as appropriately as possible. I encourage you to look at the other thread where I have better explained the situation. At eleven2 the customer is #1, we respect you, and we want to provide you with the best hosting experience possible - but that doesn't mean we're invulnerable to DDoS attacks, or that we don't drop the ball sometimes. We're admitting that, and we're trying to resolve the situation. We will.

There reviews in google/WHT seem good specially when it comes to support .They faced some issues with uk servers (bit with US too) in past includes downtime, slow loading ,cpanel etc yet they always tried their level best to get thing solved .They should change unreliable dc to prevent downtime & help their clients.
Good luck Eleven2

I think that has to do with the ISP

My experience:
In the last 5-6 months there were a problems with downtime, but not more than 1 hour.
The last problem is from yesterday, downtime more than 12 hours, and they didnt fix things during night (EU).(still downtime)
So, if you are lookiing for stable hosting in EU, stay away from Eleven2 (servers in UK).
My 2 cents.

Dunno about their other servers but their UK server are down for more than 12 hours now without any news on when they expect it to be up. Got a mail stating the the database has gone corrupt and they are working on restoring backup. In the meantime I risk loosing clients.

UK servers of Eleven2 are still down, you have news?
This is their support: We are still working on the server to recover the innodb. It will take some time to complete and we will keep you posted. Thank you for your patience
Are now many hours that the server does not work, they are just unreliable.

Hello everyone,
We are currently experiencing a problem on one of our UK servers with the MySQL server. Our technicians are working to get this restored as quickly as possible. We do post notifications of any outages/maintenance on our Network Status Page and update tickets that we receive. As WHT is not our support desk, we ask that you keep any inquiries related to this outage to our support desk or check our network status page, as our support technicians do not have WHT accounts and will not be able to respond to you here.
I will acknowledge that we've had a series of problems with our UK servers over the past months. Many of these have been due to our upstream provider. I want to assure everyone that we are taking steps to address this problem by migrating to a different service provider with better hardware, a better network, and a better support resource (for us) which allows us to provide a better overall experience to our customers using our UK servers. We have already migrated several of our servers and are on track to have the remainder moved as quickly as possible.
We apologize for all the inconvenience this has caused. Anyone that has experienced an issue today, please have your ticket escalated to the Customer Service queue and I will be particular to provide you with a credit.
Thank you again.

foxtrot
The server is online, and is working, but there are still problems.
I have 3 empty databases, and websites are still down. 36 hours
I transfered a few domains to another company with older backups.
A complete disaster, Iam waiting for customer support to fix the problem
with empty databases, to transfer the rest and close the account with them.
They messed up, Big.

Judging from their value ratios, it's no surprise that you guys are having issues. Well-balanced, non-oversold, high-performance environments and quality support come at a particular cost. Very few exceptions to this rule, if there are any at all. Nothing personal against Eleven2 and not to blanket the others out there, but I've watched this stuff happen time and time again for over 10 years. If you want top-notch, pay for it in dollars. If you want headaches, get a deal now and pay with your peace of mind later. Plain and simple.

yes, foxtrot.
I moved all accounts from eleven2 to ezpz.
Ezpz is better for many reasons.
- Support will answer after 10 minutes
- The support is able to solve the problems
- The servers are performing
Ezpz is much much better than eleven2.
I'm sorry to speak ill of eleven2, but because of them I lost many customers, and you get mad when you lose a lot of customers, especially if the support is not able to solve your problems or does not care.
After 3 weeks of ticket with eleven2, the problems have not been resolved, I asked for my money back, they have not returned, then you have a service that does not work, no money back.

Hi Nick,
Regarding your UK plans, are already moving your servers to a different datacenter / upstream provider? If yes, can you share with us what will it be?
And also, i wanted to know if its in your plans to start using SAS harddrives instead of the regular SATA that you currently use?
Thanjs
