Guidence Needed For Building A Server,Managing And Security.

Hard ware part 1.I am trying to set up a small server company for shared hosting services,later i would like to add a vps and dedicated server for clients once the company grows.Can someone suggest me a server configuration and part numbers of the components which is cheaper ? 2.My friend would like to set up an ecommerce site and he prefer to have a server on his own room.He plans to advertise his site on news papers and social networks,which inturn will bring a lot of traffic into his site.So can someone suggest me a server configuration which is the cheapest and in between latest and not too old configuration which have less maintainence and its parts easily available if anything need replacement.I need the specific part number so we could buy and assemble the server,ourself. Software Thingy 1.Besides the Linux OS,what all software do i need?Can someone suggest me all the basic open source software i need to make a hosting company run,which will help the customer have an UI which is friendly to anyone without any computer skills ? 2.What kind of security do i need to set up on my server?An Antivirus?Besides that what else? < > Last edited by Postbox; 03-14-2014 at 06:46 AM.
Posted by NoSupportLinuxHostin, 03-14-2014, 12:05 AM The best starting point for shared hosting would be CentOS with cPanel. Then convert CentOS to CloudLinux. You can tie into cPanel's API using any popular billing system, like WHMCS or Blesta.
