Not enabling security on website when accepting PayPal

Posted by usmanz, 03-11-2014, 08:25 PM
I want to accept credit card payments through PayPal on my site. My assumption is that I won't be needing any SSL or encryption on my site as customers will be entering their payment information on PayPal's website. Is that correct? -Thanks.

Is it something like a PayPal checkout image on your website or are you integrating with any software? Personally I don't think it's worth the risk in this day and age, I'd probably set up some encryption anyway -- at least to give your customers some added peace of mind.

Thanks. I haven't tested Paypal's system yet but I know I won't be integrating their payment method with any software. I am only trying to know if using Paypal's default credit card accepting form works on their site or is it something displayed on my site. I couldn't test it as I will need to modify my Paypal account so I want to know about security before I try that.

It would be redirected to paypals site for the transaction completion.

Even though an SSL is not required.. it doesn't hurt to have one just incase and will most likely increase business as all shiny things on a website look good

Even if customers are not entering credit card information on your website, I recommend you to use SSL for your website.
