Disabled WHT Account

Posted by neumannu47, 08-08-2010, 08:05 PM
Last year, I came here looking for a Windows hosting company. We found one, set up with them, and have been happy with their service. Since I have not been here in a while, I spent some time looking around. I found that my hosting company's account has been "disabled." Is that the same as banned? Should I be concerned?

It says "disabled" under their name.

Who's the host?

I think the rules prohibit me from singling them out. I found some very old threads about being banned.

Contact the mods, maybe they can tell you why.

If not much has changed since the 2005 threads on the subject of disabled accounts, it appears that there are some prohibitions that can get you banned after a single post. I read through their last posts and could not tell what the problem was. The service has been good, so I'll assume for now that all is well.

I would not worry about that too much. WebHostingTalk is a huge voice for the web hosting community, but they are not the ruling authority over all web hosting companies (no downplay intended).

No, we won't. We will only discuss an account with the account holder. I don't see where we or anyone else said we were (apart from you). We only deal with members and our own rules. On rare occasions we will disable someone that is doing something detrimental to our members, but there are usually long threads that discuss it when that happens. Research, read and look into the provider you intend to use. Nothing beats doing the legwork.

That answers the question then.

I like that quote! I think I may add it to my blog, have some random quote script and add that. Would you mind me quoting you bear?

A disabled WHT account means that your hosting provider broke some serious rules on WHT (otherwise they would have just given him an infraction). It doesn't necessarily reflect on the service you can expect from that company but it may reflect on the morals/ethics of that person because the WHT rules are pretty straight-forward

OP asked if he should be concerned about his host that is very very happy with even though his hosting companies account here on this forum is disabled. There should be no reason for him to be concerned over that as I answered, especially if the OP is happy with his service he is receiving.

That's "happy", not "very very happy". I asked them why they were banned. They replied that the didn't know for sure but that it could have been because of their sig line. That sounds funny, but it could be true.

Greetings,

Go for it. Incredibly unlikely. Too many sig issues usually just gets your signature permissions revoked. More likely they just don't want to tell you what the problem was, since it probably doesn't relate to how the business or service is run (forum account status is an indicator of nothing other than a forum accounts status, if you get my drift). If you're happy with the service, be happy. As for the thread? Let's move on. Last edited by bear; 08-09-2010 at 05:50 PM. Reason: clarity, I hope
