Looking for reseller hosting recommendations

Posted by fourtheye, 08-05-2010, 12:06 PM
I'm looking for recommendations regarding an Asian or Australian-based, fully-managed reseller host that has a control panel installed (pref. cPanel). Here are a few other criteria: SERVICE REQUIREMENTS - Quality uptime (99.9%+) - Great customer support - Prefer a stable company that has been in business for at least 5 years TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS - Fast network speed and server hardware - Supports SSH for file transfers - Linux or Unix-based OS - Need to be able to use Drupal 5, 6 and eventually 7 - Need to be able to use WordPress (version 3) - Would support PHP 4 but will mostly use PHP 5+ - Not sure about MySQL reqs. Will most likely need to support 4 and 5. - Disk Space: 10-30 GB - Bandwidth: 250-500GB BUDGET: $18-25/month Thanks in advance for any thoughts or recommendations.

Would also be interested in finding a similar solution (using same specs) in the US and in Europe. I've had a reseller account with HostGator, and have been very happy with them. I've heard good things about Dreamhost.

I've used GreenGeeks Reseller Hosting for quite some time now. It is very good. They give u unlimited specs. The price is great. And best support ive ever had. Check it out. Here's a link. http://www.greenresellerwebhosting.com/

Something you may wish to consider is the disk space. If you had a reseller account with HostGator they do not have the overselling feature enabled. With the overselling feature enabled you are now limited by what you truly use, and not just allocate. So you may be able to start with a smaller package then work your way up with a provider.

Your budget and requirements sound very reasonable. Perhaps you should take a look at the reseller hosting offers forum and see if any companies there catch your eye

I use afew servers myself, but for reselling packages in your specs My experience has been great with two different companies both Rack0.com & G7Hosting.com I like them alot since they are both using LiquidWeb datacenter/servers. Ive known Rack0 support to be perfect & G7 offers the same. They both give great pricing & support for those looking for great packages without paying the high overage. Im sure you'll find alot of great packages, but these are my recommendations for the east coast. Cheers

Hmmm...it seems Rack0 is using Rackspace and G7Hosting is using ThePlanet. Not sure but maybe they have Liquid for other servers.

No recommendation here, but just a head up That is about what every customer wants; and what about any host will offer; so lets continue reading.. Support of SSH; only for file transfer isnt FTPS enough ? Most will be able to provide you with this, but remember that also as a reseller you are limited to resource usage, if you run very busy drupal sites maybe a reseller account is not what you need. Stay away from any company still offering PHP4; PHP4 is end of life; you should really not offer it either. There is NO support for PHP4 anymore. I guess most will be having mysql 5 installed nowadays, and i need to see the first customer which has an application only working with mysql4, i would however not focus on old technology when starting with a reseller account but look forward. I am sure others will respond on your budget and show you some companies you can research if they fit your needs. No problem, hope my input has some value to you.

Hello, I just wanted to clarify that we have servers with both Rackspace and Liquidweb. Best Regards,

Good recommendation. Let me give you a quick bit of advice... Do not EVER go with a host that offers an unlimited plan. Your business will quickly dive into the dirt!

Ok fourtheye, I will also recommend you spechosting.com Just don't forget the Google suggestion.
