Starting a Hosting Business

Posted by dani0157, 01-16-2010, 10:40 AM
Hi all, I am thinking of starting my own Hosting, but i dont know so much about reselling hosting. Basically i am looking for some advice on: * What reseller hosting companies are good. * What to watch out for * How do you sell your hosting to people and how many sales can i expect in the first 3 months. * Should i buy a reseller hosting by a well known hosting company or are there better ways. any advice is appreciated.

Everything depends on your targeted clients and your monthly budget.

that depends on the buyers point of view unlimited Space & Bandwidth that depends on how yo market yourself & how much work you put into it, if you build it they will come does not work. just because a hosting company is well know does not mean its good do your homework on the host? how long they have been in business, reviews, etc check out the offers section there are many hosts that may be a fit for you http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=130

Once you start creating a business plan, you'll start to find out what your real requirements are, until then, you'r pretty much trying to shape clouds of mist. How many sales is not as important as 'how much profit/loss'.

Thank you for all the replies. I`ve been looking now for a couple hours at reseller packaged from a lot of different companies. And i think to go with greenresellerwebhosting dot com. But i am still not sure. So i think to wait untill tommorow, before making a decision. Let the information sink in a bit . If anyone has tried GreenResellerWebHosting, please write what your experiences are.

Not to promising when the only review here on WHT is a negative one and Google search renders the same doubt you will find much on them as they have been is business less than a year broke the cardinal rule "unlimited Space & Bandwidth" you have to ask yourself Can you buy a unlimited hard dive? NO well neither can your host. if you answered yes then please send me one I only need one

Just contact me again after 50 years and i will have one for you ready Anyway i am gonna narrow my search: Around: * 15GB Space * 20GB Traffic * 15 CPanel Accounts * 30 min Response GUARANTEE Support (support tickets/email) if the quality is good then the price dosent mether ( resonable price ) I have a normal hosting account with JustHost and their support is not good. From 3 tickets opened more then 2 days ago only 1 is answered. So that is the reason i dont want to take a reseller account by them. Last edited by dani0157; 01-16-2010 at 02:00 PM. You do realise, we allways promise delivery in not less than 'unlimited time'

What kind of a budget are you working with? And JH is a big company, I'm sure they get tons of tickets, and sadly for big companies, it's not in their best interest to please the individual, they would rather work on the majority. You may want to look for smaller hosts (with some rep of course) because they are more likely to be able to help you more support-wise than larger companies. You should also be careful about going for master resellers. You should always do research on the company - do a whois check - if the details are private, I wouldn't recommend you go with that company because for all you know, it could be run by a 10 year old kid from his race car bed. And last advice, ask all potential hosts questions. Look at how they respond to you and then decide whether they will be good for you. You'll be surprised how much you can learn from pre-sales questions and answers.

I would recommend that you do your research. Remember that Web Hosting businesses are not successful overnight. It is better if you can stand out by offering a different product and solution than every other company. The most important is to start off small, and work your way up.

I agree with this.

I think you can start with small packages and see the trend for a few month. If you feel worth it, then you can upgrade the packages at any time..
