LFD Failures - cPanel

Can anyone shed any light on the cause of these failures. We started having them commonly when our site was topping out on memory allowance, having never had them before, but since increasing our memory allowance with our hosts we still have occasional occurrences. Each time it is recovered 5 minutes later without any further issues or complications, however particularly as we do not understand the cause we are slightly concerned as to if there may be an under lying issue. On top of this we have recently set up an automatic backup of our MySQL database (large, as the site if a forum) each night, and most nights, but not all, this also triggers lfd to fall over and recover. The same occurs if you take a manual backup, but again, although the automatic backup is new we never had any issues previously when taking manual backups. Daniel

Is this on a dedicated or vps?

Copy of a 'random' mid-day failure: Copy of a failure coinciding with the overnight daily backup: Daniel

we get lfd failures when CSF firewall fails or if the fw is in test mode. Are you running CSF on the server?

Hi, if this is happening during database backup, you could check several things: - Memory usage during the backup. - I/O usage during the backup. - Amount of connections during the backup. - check /var/log/lfd.log and see if there's any extra information. Cheers

Check through the /var/log/lfd.log and /var/log/messages and see if there are any more information.

OK, I'll have a look for the records mentioned and report back. Thanks all. Daniel

We use CSF a lot and LFD errors are normally caused when CSF is in test mode make sure this isn't the case.

The failure reason should be logged in lfd.log or messages. Check the logs around the time when you got failure message.
