Help! Need trusted service.

Posted by bob950, 09-13-2009, 03:04 PM
Alrighty. So, my current hosting provider for my reseller isn't really working out too great. Right now, I host 3 personal websites for myself on my reseller, so I only need like 7-10gb of space. Bandwidth is not a big issue either, so that doesn't have to be too high. Basically, I need a trusted company that can offer me a small reseller, for preferably under 10 dollars a month. Can anybody help me out? Ive had some experiences with some bad hosts, so I want to make sure this one will be one that is trusted, and that functions nicely.

do you actually resell ? sounds like a shared hosting package could do good for your needs.

It would be linux. And no, I do not resell, but I would prefer to have a reseller account because I do a lot of webdesign, and like working on sites as a hobby. Having a reseller makes this much easier for me.

Getting a reseller account is a good choice. Your budget and requirements seem reasonable so it shouldn't be too hard finding a provider to fulfill your needs. Just be sure to find one that can offer reliable service. You could try going to HostVoice.com (WHT's "Find a Host" feature) to see if you can get any custom quotes through that. Good luck in your search

10gb of space, under 10$ per month AND trusted... you are going to have the same issues... Most of the times, it's a matter of logic and math. Calculate how many resellers one server can handle with 10GB/10$ and you will find that this server has lots and lots and lots of sites... The more the sites, the more chances are for a server to have reliability issues.

Definitely a groovy idea to keep things separate. That being said, I'd bump up your budget a few bucks to get a reliable provider.

really does depend on the hardware - with today's technology, a server can have 10x the amount of sites as a server from 7 years ago and still be stable and reliable. just comes down to finding a host that actually monitors the servers properly to keep things stable and reliable.

Just keep in mind with 10x more clients, that support prices will be 10x higher as well, backup prices will be higher, as well as bandwidth usage. There's a lot more to running a hosting company then just stuffing as many clients as you can and lowering your costs to beat out the competition. Offering $10/month reseller accounts isn't really feasible in the long-term, which is why you'll see most of the larger and established companies with a much higher pricing structure.

yeah, that's why my comments came from the server end and not the support end.

Why do these threads end up not helping the people looking for help? @bob950, look, just talk to some of the providers, try and find some feedback from other clients they may have and go from there.

Gotcha @ OP you can check out the reseller offers section and gather a shortlist of hosts that interest you and feel free to reply back to this thread for some comments on them.
