Looking for a fast with good uptime reseller hosting
Posted by MonteVesubio, 07-04-2009, 12:31 AM |
Hi all
I come with very specific demands for a new hosting, the most important being good uptime and as fast as possible:
- 50 Gb HD space
- 500 GB bandwidth
- cpanel
- good and patient technical support, especially with "not so technical clients" like myself
my budget is around 80-90 US$
Ive searched around a bit but Im not yet convinced of any company in certain so Id appreciate your help. Ive noticed a lot of new faces (companies) that don't inspire me much confidence. If possible Id like to pick a hosting with at least 1 year of experience in the business, but I'm open to the new ones as long as they're fast, and fulfill the rest of my requirements
cheers

With that budget, why not go for a VPS? You'll likely to be able to find a managed solution with those specifications with that budget.

Absolutely, will agree with Dave and Jonathan that you should be considering a VPS with this budget and requirements. Just ensure that you do a good amount of research by browsing through customer reviews of your prospective host.
Good luck!

thanks for the responses guys
I will definitely consider in the near future moving to a full managed VPS, however for the time being Id prefer to keep with my old habits of a normal reseller hosting. Ive researched, only on the surface admittedly, the VPS world and encountered a couple of minor problems that would be an obstacle for the time being.
My priority right now is to find a fast and reliable hosting, if possible, with a particular degree of experience. From the ones I've checked i had a few on my short list, one of them being precisely Jonathan's company but Id like to hear and read more suggestions before taking a decision. My main concern is that I will be expanding my websites and adding a lot of multimedia content that will need a fair amount of speed, so thats a priority. The other one being the uptime and the capacity to have someone who can assist me in my technical shortcomings.
Forgot to mention that I had a bad experience with email accounts with my current hosting and would like to make this also a priority for my new company.

In my opinion, your budget is pretty reasonable for that amount of disk space and bandwidth on a reseller plan. I'm sure you're aware of the fact that a low cost "unlimited" host will unlikely not be able to satisfy your needs in terms of resources at the very least. If you're not ready to move on to a VPS yet then a reseller account is definitely still a viable option.
Just out of curiosity though, do you currently need 50GB disk space and 500GB monthly bandwidth or are these figures what you would expect to need in the near future?

thats a great requirement to budget ratio...more people need to have similar specs.
if you do plan to get a fully managed vps in the future, you can actually do that now with a budget like that otherwise you could check out mddhosting or innohosting - both reliable companies that will be able to suit your needs.

Yes your budget seems to be great. You won't have any problems to find a reliable one with that requirements. Do your research on the short listed ones. Best of luck and remember to update us when you choose one and share the experience with them in future.

but, off the top of your heads can you recommend to me any name that fulfills speed/uptime close to 100%/ and good client support?

I'd be a little concerned buying hosting from someone who doesn't know what reseller hosting is.
As for your past problems with email, what kind of problems did you have?

I highly recommend Readywire. http://readywire.com However, you would have to customize your order with them to get the amount of diskspace and bandwidth that you require. But their customer service is friendly, fast and efficient. The uptime has always been great for me! Plus, you get user-end support for your hosting clients.
Also, I have found that The Prime Host http://theprimehost.com looks decent as well. I don't have any experience with them but almost purchased an account. I might still do that. You get tons of diskspace and bandwidth and their reviews around the web are very favorable.

I don't think the OP is looking for a reseller. I believe he is looking for a host with their own servers, and it sounds like a fully managed VPS withe end user support option will suit you. Your specs and budget look viable, so I would suggest you look at Innohosting.
Aaron, some more posts may help your credibility before you offer a solution.

I'd also recommend Surpasshosting.com. Excellent provider (owned by HostDime.com). Either company is excellent and should provide the service/specs to fit your budget.

I don't think he will go for a VPS either. He has clearly specified he is not interested in VPS atleast for the time being. If you go through his posts carefully you can see that.
