A reliable web host?

Posted by ASantiagoJr, 09-25-2007, 08:36 PM
Does anyone know of a company that has been in business that offers a good reseller plan in which i can pay about $150 per year. I liked SurpassHosting, but don't exactly know how they are. I am running a web design, discussion forum, and video blog. I don't need that much disk space but would like to offer small accounts to friends and family. I also would like to upload vacation photos. I am looking for about 10GB of Disk Space and a pretty large amount of Bandwidth. If you could post some companies in which you have been apart of i would appreciate it.

I dont think Liquidweb.com offers reseller accounts, but if they do you need to go with them. If liquidweb is a no go, you should then check out BeachComber.net

http://sonet7.com/ is owned by Liquidweb and they offer a reseller account there. It's a bit too small given the numbers mentioned by the OP, and goes beyond his budget. The price of quality perhaps?

i just signed up with site5 at $140/year (includes first year discount, regularly $20/month). reseller comes with unlimited accounts, 3 IP addresses, 10 gb diskspace, 2TB bandwidth. https://secure.site5.com/resellers/ I've been with site5 for two years on their multi-site account (same as reseller, but prettier and more expensive) and have been very satisfied. I needed the IP addresses to install a cert, so thus the move. Last edited by joel_ns; 09-26-2007 at 02:34 AM.

I would suggest you to check the offer section and that will give you a list of hosts that will fit into your requirements. Consider teh factors like uptime statistics, level of customer support, response times etc and that will help you to narrow down the list. also, I would suggest you to keep away from overselling hosts if you areconcerned about reliability. He is looking for 10-GB of space and "a pretty large amount of bandwidth" for $12.50 per month...I think it is kinda silly to suggest that he keep away from overselling hosts.. GROSSLY overselling maybe, but to get that deal something has to a bit oversold....

Define what you need in bandwidth. Getting that in your budget may be hard depending on what your needs are. Are you sure you need a reseller account? Take a look at budgetreseller.com, Innohosting and Dathorn. Those are all quality hosts that offer entry level accounts around your budget with realistic resources.

IMHO westernavenue.biz is a reliable reseller, uptime is fabulous, they are very helpful, if there is a problem its fixed asap. I think this is their smallest plan 10 GB Storage - 100 GB Transfer for $120 p/yr $10 p/mnth I think thats pretty reasonable. The question is how much bandwidth are we talking?

Could you please provide us with a domain that you have hosted with this company, for the time you stated in your other post about them ("about a year")? We'd just like to verify that you have experience with them. Thanks!

indeed I can, bedezigned.com (being constructed) retrocharm.org (personal blog) dolliholics.net (personal graphics site)

Why are you advertising WesternAvenue.Biz in your signature? In any case, I don't find the physical address where WesternAvenue.Biz's office is located on their site, the whois of the domain is private and there's not even a phone number to find. In all, this company is doing anything possible to be anonymous. If they disappear tomorrow from the net, it'll be close to impossible to get a hold of them. I require at least 100Gb of Bandwidth the more the better. Sorry it took so long for my reply. I am still in search, if anyone can recommend any more hosting providers i will gladly review and weight my options.

Firstly I have it in my signature because they are my host, I don't see the problem with that. And secondly they have a contact phone number on their website so they can't be that anonymous now can they? Does it really matter if a domain's whois is private?

In the eyes of some - yes it is. It gives the impression there is something to hide. Whether there is or not, is not for me to say..

Posted by bear, 10-02-2007, 09:37 AM
My personal opinion is that I would not willingly do business with someone that feels the need to hide who they are.

Posted by ldcdc, 10-02-2007, 10:16 AM
That is indeed correct. Mea culpa. Fair enough. Some customers may be sufficiently reassured by the presence of a phone number. Not me, but I guess some would. Signatures are often seen just like the badges people use at conferences. There's nothing in yours that tells you're a customer as opposed to a company representative. Also, it's not often that a customer (which I don't doubt you were: http://www.kawaiiville.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=68519) chooses to advertise a company, rather than recommend: http://www.kawaiiville.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=81713

I am willing to modify my requirements. Control Panel: DirectAdmin or CPanel Diskspace: 8Gb Minimum - 10GB Maximum Bandwidth: 100GB Minimum - 120GB Maximum Would prefer to pay a yearly fee: $100-150. Private Nameservers Guaranteed Space/Bandwidth. Please <> Last edited by bear; 10-02-2007 at 06:03 PM.

Good job Sherlock!

you can always depend on ldcdc to make ya smile. Gonna pipe in and I would rather err on the side of caution. Any company that does not provide fully contact and "about us" information that can be verified is suspect to me and not anyone that I would do business with. But do your own research and spend your own money how you will. @ASantiagoJr There are no resellers that I would trust and recommend that offer those resources at your asking costs. There are plenty out there that may "offer" this and more but once you research their rep you'll come to your own conclusions. IMHO modify your resources or increase your price and shoot for a quality host, you'll be happier in the long term.

But they aren't hiding who they are, they have contact information on their website. I honestly don't see the problem. I posted that thread on kville because people are always asking for sites who have reseller hosting so i figured they could read that rather then have me post in their theards constantly. And I choose to post the thread because they are a good host I don't have one thing I could say bad about them. Last edited by Ms Candi; 10-02-2007 at 08:36 PM.

Hello, I am the owner of westernavenue.biz. I had no idea Candi posted about my site on here. She has been a customer of mine for over a year and I can send the paypal payment receipts as proof. Also, my whois is private because I do not have a public office. I run the company out of my condo in oak brook, il. If any of you want my address to visit me we can make a date and I will cook any of you dinner. Please address any additional questions to me at http://www.westernavenue.biz/contact.php Thank you, Anthony 708-307-8971

Also, My contact information is now submitted to WHT moderators, as allowed by the rules here. So if needed, please contact them to get my whois information.
