Are Custom Nameservers included in ResellerZoom?
Posted by smeallum, 10-01-2007, 11:08 PM |
Hi all, brand new in this forum(sorry but i am not allowed smilies yet)
I am thinking of signing-up with ResellerZoom's budget reseller plans.
In the description for the things included it says:
Custom Nameservers -> Request
Does anybody know if it's included or will they charge me to have them?
Thank you!!
P.D: I know that I could ask directly ResellerZoom, but it's late night and sales dept. are gone so asking in this forum might be quicker

It looks like they do. Go to their /advanced-reseller.shtml page, click on domains. It says they include them there. If you click on the 'custom nameservers' link it pops up more info.

You could setup your own nameservers via the whm control panel. You'd probably have to purchase 2 IPs at $2 each from them.
Dedicated IP Address $2/month

Not true at all, all you have to do is register your nameservers to the ip of the nameservers the host gave you. You don't need to buy any additional ip addresses. All the nameservers are used for in DNS, is to resolve to the ip address, thus making cPanel nameserver setup and and buying additional ip addresses not worth it.

I agree, you don't need a dedicated IP to setup name servers. Just find out the IPs used by the name servers, and use those.

It seems they do include it. I sent them an email and they said:
There is no charge for Custom Name Servers. Custom Name Server are provided only upon request. You can register custom name servers using the IPs of default name servers which is free.

i got an email back from them answering my questions and I can confirm what v2rv just said.
I also asked about CPU/memory usage limitations in their budget plans since it says something there that it is for websites that don't use much CPU and they gave me this figures:
Budget resellers may not use more than 1% CPU daily, 3% memory daily, run
more than 5 simultaneous processes, allow any process to run for longer than
15 seconds CPU time, run any process that consumes more than 10% of available
CPU at any time, or run any process that consumes more than 16 MB of memory.
Please find more about our resource usage limit in our Acceptable Usage
Policy at (url of their website + slash + a u p . s h t m l)
How can I figure out if this limitations will be ok for 1-5 soon but 10-20 websites(50% of those sites flash and 50% Joomla, blogs, etc...)? Will it depend in the amount of visitors? I don't have the slightest idea if this is too strict limitations that in the medium term will force me to upgrade for sure or if I'll be ok.
anybody can enlight me on this?
Thanks,
NiCo

They said "Yes" to Custom Nameservers for Advanced Reseller Plans. But they said "Request" for Budget Reseller Plans. If they don't charge an additional fee when why they had said different things?

I was think to purchase a budget reseller plan from them before. But I gave up. I think these plans for html based (or get too low traffic) sites. Also I had saw some bad reviews that made about their Budget plans.
You cannot upgrade your budget reseller account to an advanced reseller account. Because the servers are different. You must purchase an advanced reseller plan and must move sites to new server and must close your budget plan. But they maybe help you for this moving.
Good luck

I have a budget account for a couple of years, and I'm pretty sure that I pay 1$/m for the custom nameservers.

Anybody can comment on weather these limitations can be problematic for 20 small-medium sized flash & blog sites?
I ask this because their lower budget reselling plan is for 20 websites(20 Cpanel accounts)
Thanks for any input.
P.D: I won't be making business by reselling actually. I will be doing custom small/medium web design and then support/maintainance/content update to those customers.

I think anyone cannot say yes or no for it. Because one of your sites maybe use more system resource than allowed(CPU, RAM, Email, HTTP connection ...)
