LaneHost - My Initial Thoughts

After chatting with Derrick of LaneHost for several minutes, performing a few speed tests and carefully reading their Terms & Conditions as well as their AUP, I took advantage of a promotional offer that they had offering 30% off their reseller packages and selected a package comparible to what I would be transferring away from my old host. The LaneHost package I selected was Rehost Lite ($19.95 - with my discount $13.97). Offered is 24x7x365 support, a free copy of WHMCompleteSolution 3.1 (installed), a free Enom account and access to a free merchant account. After signing up, I promptly received my welcome message, with instructions and requests from their sales department asking for details needed to complete the setup of my account (information for the Enom account, Merchant Account etc). The only piece of information that I had to request was my private nameservers, and if I had to have read the emails sent to me correctly, I would have seen that I was asked what I wanted my nameservers called. They did not include the IP addresses of the name servers, which I quickly found anyway, but I did make a suggestion to have this included as part of their welcome package. Derrick of LaneHost has indicated that this suggestion is being acted upon and that the IP addresses will be included in the future. After I had created my account, I began the process of transferring the accounts that I could transfer myself, no databases, no email accounts, just pure hosting of HTML files. I then started the process of utilizing the LaneHost support system to have several domains transferred. These support tickets were handled professionally and promptly! Everything went smoothly with the exception of database usernames that didn't get transferred. It was no biggie for me as I quickly remedied that manually and my sites were back in business. As I'm not sure how the transfer procedure works, I'm guessing that this may have been something that could not have been avoided, either way I was very impressed with the quick response and how smoothly things went. As I do with any host that I deal with, I checked the DNS functionality with DNSREPORT (www.dnsreport.com) and discovered that there were several issues that would potentially cause me some problems if not addressed. After submitting a support ticket on the issue, my concerns were acknowledged, and the problems quickly corrected (in about 1/2 hour). They have been extremely helpful in transferring my sites, and very quick to action all my requests no matter how small they are. They made me feel like I was once again like I was an important customer even though I have only purchased their lowest package. What I truly like is the professional approach that everyone that I have dealt with at LaneHost this far takes in dealing with issues. I know that this is only early in my relationship with LaneHost, but I will say that I am very much impressed. Everything that I have encountered thus far has impressed me. I am very much service oriented and have been in my 25 plus years in the IT industry. LaneHost has delivered phenomenal service thus far, and have treated me like I'm their largest customer. They have restored my faith in having a hosting company treat me with respect, and courtesy, while being professional and delivering on what they have promised ... great features with super service at a reasonable price! I cross my fingers and hope that things remain this good in the future! I have a very good feeling about this move! I will update you later as things progress and the relationship develops.

Hi Barry, Glad we met all your expectations, it was a pleasure talking to you. Thank you for signing up with us and taking the time to write a review of us thus far of your experience. I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure we to continue to be able to offer the service you expect and deserve, price should have nothing to do with how you get treated. We don't look at that. I look forward to establishing a long relationship with you and your company. Kind Regards, Derrick
