Unifiednet Review

Posted by osirion, 04-21-2005, 02:50 PM
I recently signed up with Unifiednet thinking they seemed like a good choice after reading a few posts on WHT. Let me start off with my bad experience with the sign up process. I tried signing up for various reseller packages - all of them turned out incorrectly at the checkout process. By this I mean I signed up for package "ABC" and when I got to the checkout "XYZ" was what it thought I selected. This was extremely annoying because I had to go through a 4 page signup process just to find this out. I tried this with various packages - and with the one I actually wanted, the checkout process didnt even recognise it and said my cart was empty. After filling out the form about 10 times trying to get the package (or a similar package) I wanted- I just ended going with the 'closest bet' because I needed a windows reseller account ASAP. After this I paid the 20$ for the (wrong) package, and I got a confirmation from 2CO saying this and got another one from Unifiednet saying that I had signed up for the one I actually clicked on for 25$. At this point I was quite irritated, to add to this bad experience, the e-Mail Unifiednet sent me said that my application will be processed and I will get a reply within 24 hours. This really got me angry because their web site states that Reseller packages are setup instantly. At this point there wasnt much I could do - 24 hours later however, I still hadnt gotten a reply back in regards to my application form. I had also e-Mailed them a few questions (+- 2 or 3 e-Mails) - none of which had gotten replies as well. Its now about 36 hours later and I still havent gotten my application processed and any of my e-Mails answered. I have e-Mailed them (12 hours ago) asking them to cancel my account (since I lost the client that I needed the windows hosting for) and theres no suprise that they havent replied to that either. I dont know if other people have had the same kind of experience with Unifiednet - but I would appreciate to get some feedback on them. I will eventually need a Windows reseller hosting plan and would like to know (when the time comes) if I should give these guys a second shot?

They are usually top-notch and I would give them a second shot. I have dealt with them and found them quick and knowledgeable across the board. I just checked up on them by dropping a line and apparently they are short-handed due to various factors including one car accident to add to the mix! I'd give them a second chance under these circumstances.

I've been with unifiednet for about 4 months or so. The uptime has been 100%, no complaints there. And until the last week or so, support requests were answered within a couple hours. It's only been the last week that I've had a hard time dealing with support. But I'm not going to jump to switch because I figure something out of the ordinary must be slowing them down on their end. So long as it's temporary I'll manage since otherwise their service has been great. As far as sign ups go, my sign up process went very smoothly...no problems at all.

Osirion, I truly apologize for the difficulties you had while attempting to become a client of ours. This seems somewhat of a late response as we have already canceled your signup as well as refunded your credit card but I wanted to also address this post. It is true what Plexi_Hosting had wrote about the car accident. I was in the hospital for 10 days and when I did get out I had a hard time getting back on my feet. Although this isn't a one man show I do share in the bulk of the work. I am now back full time and am feeling much better. As far as your post, I understand the frustration. We will look into the 2checkout situation and resolve any discrepancies. The instant account activation listed on the web page doesn't mean that your account will be set up instantly but that you have the ability to create accounts instantly. We may take that down since it seems it has caused confusion in this case. We do not offer instant account creation as we have a robust way of verifying orders which normal can take up to four hours to complete. If you have any future questions e-mail our helpdesk at esupport@helpdeskcity.com Thank you for the kind words and the vote of confidence Plexi_Hosting and KCMB. Thank you for your time! -Matthew

Thank you UnifiedNet. I am sorry to hear about your accident, but I think you should implement a backup plan in case something of the like should ever happen again. I must say that you were most helpful once you did get back on your feet in refunding us and replying to our e-Mails. Other than the back up plan stated above, if you could just look into the 2CO problem that I ran across that would be nice. You also stated that a reseller would be able to setup clients immediately, my welcome message (or rather, Order message because we didnt get anything else) didnt give me a control panel username or password so I couldnt setup clients immediately. Next time I require Windows hosting I will give UnifiedNet another go - I just hope the above mentioned issues will be sorted. Last edited by osirion; 05-06-2005 at 03:06 AM.

This is just a follow up. It is now a few years later and I found myself needing windows hosting again. Like everyone here said I should give them a second shot, I did - boy what a mistake. Their site still states "All reseller accounts are instantly setup!!" in the same bright red text it always had so they have not changed that. They did fix the checkout procedure though and so that worked. I got billed, 2CO took my money and I began waiting for my services to become active ("INSTANTLY"). I shortly thereafter received an e-Mail stating that I should receive my information from them within 24hours (this is hardly anything close to the definition of 'instantly'). About 30 hours later I still had not heard from them. I e-Mailed every listed e-Mail address for them on their site asking for a refund and for them to cancel my account. None of the e-Mails worked. Some didnt even exist. It is now almost a month later and I still have no account details. Ive now complained to 2CO to get my money back and I sure as hell hope that they dont charge me for the new month since its a recurring bill. As attractive as UnifiedNet (aka Unified Net or Unified Network Solutions for those doing searches) might be. If you wish to save your money, time and / or insanity, I urge you to stay far away from UnifiedNet.

Sounds like you had a bad run with them. I have heard good things about them (but never used them myself). But thanks for sharing your experiences. It always helps everyone out here see what other users have gone through. Good and bad. Who have are you with now?

What an ordeal osirion Did you go back through your email program to double check that possibly your account info was sent and ended up in your junk/spam folder? That happens alot nowdays with so much filtering going on. I hope 2CO will be able to assist. I would have run out of patience before a month rolled around though. Good Luck.

This little snippet would be enough of a warning for me. Reminds me of the kid with the 24/7 support that is actually a few hours a day(no weekends). Could you imagine if the tables were turned? "Set up my account and I will pay as soon as it is done" "ok, account is setup" "hello. where is my money" "When I say I will pay right away I meant my electric bill."

Too bad, unfortunately I've found that in 2 years (often much less!) a company can go from highly rated to highly avoided.

It's often said that a host must be doing somthign right in order to survive for a few years. I can't help but what is that thing that keeps this host in business... I'm with you on that Martie.

They were pushing everything over to the Speedcore Networks brand, last I recall. I still get "your account is due in 3 days" mails every month for a small account I had with them a long time ago. I send in a response to make it stop but it must go nowhere. The Paypal subscription was cancelled long ago. I guess they've left something on autopilot but not all the parts of the machine are working.

Do anyone have any idea whats up whit unifiednet/SCN? (originally site from fornix-net ) My accont is still working, its online all the time (better then my new host ixwebhosting.com who's data servers are of line and they use kind of sucks control panel compared to cPanel). Problem is SCN do not answer any emails or forums after end of 2005 (even on this forum here). I wanted to pay them for the domains - because they are expired soon - but i cant get no answer from them. So then i wanted to get my domain name for my self becouse i went to other host ( i was afraid they just close unifiednet/Theplanet.com server one day). But i cant transfer the domains because i do not have rights for that... situation sucks big time! Wild West Domains told they contact back to me - no answer yet from them. Is there any legal thing i can push so i can get my 3 domain names? I'm really screwed if i lose them Created On:27-Aug-2004 15:35:26 UTC Last Updated On:01-Jul-2006 09:33:56 UTC Expiration Date:27-Aug-2007 15:35:26 UTC Sponsoring Registrar:Wild West Domains (R213-LRMS) Status:CLIENT DELETE PROHIBITED Status:CLIENT RENEW PROHIBITED Status:CLIENT TRANSFER PROHIBITED Status:CLIENT UPDATE PROHIBITED Registrant ID:GODA-014337773 Registrant NamepeedCore Domains Registrant OrganizationpeedCore Networks, Inc. If you ask me they are out of business and you are better off making plans to move your domains elsewhere. Every single e-Mail contact available for UnifiedNet is unavailable. In fact, if I remember correctly, they are all being forwarded to a single e-Mail address which is over quota and so the mail bounces. This is inclusive of the e-Mail that 2CO had for them. Luckily 2CO refunded my amount and even though they didnt cancel the recurring order for some reason, the following month when it debited my credit card again - I notified 2CO and they were quick to refund me again and then they cancelled the recurring order. My guess is that they ran out of business or something and that their upstream service provider is still letting their service run because theyre probably also automatically debiting UnifiedNet's credit card and UnifiedNet never got around to cancelling it or something. Who knows. All I can say is, STAY AWAY!

Oh, btw Waffa, I dont know what the procedure is with your TLD domain. I've only ran into a similar problem once before where RegistryFly was giving me troubles with my domain, but luckily the NL (netherlands) registrar accepted my domain transfers which I submitted using another entity (TuCows reseller). At the end of the day, I think if I was you - your best bet would be to dig through the registry info and try and find out which top level registrar speedcorenetworks used. Then contact them directly and tell them of the situation and maybe they will be willing to help you out. Good luck!

Thank You osirion, i hope Wild West Domains will help me out whit my domains. Is the Wild West Domains and Domains Priced Right same company, right? I feel sorry for people who do not know the situation and one day their site will be just deleted.
