Linux Reseller Hosting with ThePlanet/EV1 Server
Posted by qwer2007, 02-09-2007, 06:09 AM |
Hello,
Can anybody suggest me who are the reliable and reputable hosts that provide linux reseller hosting using ThePlanet/EV1 servers. I prefer to have providers with DDoS and Security protection enabled.
The specifications I am looking for are:
Diskspace: Minimum 5GB
Monthly Transfer: Minimum 500 GB/month
Control Panel: cPanel/WHM
Domains: Unlimited
Static IP: Minimum 4
Thanks.

The sites hosting on them are non-HYIP or public gaming sites. But rather more on soho and sme business sites. Thus, reliability and security issue is the main factor to consider. I forgot to mention the budget. The budget should be less than a VPS's cost.

glad youre looking for theplanet. They are by far the best provider out there in terms of connectivity.

Many people would disagree with you there. They may be good (though I disagree there too) but to say they are "by far the best" is a stretch.
As for hosting providers at TP/EV1: HostGator are one that I know of, I am sure there are more. Check The Planet's forums, I believe there's a thread on there that lists official resellers. In addition, I believe "onthespothosting" just happens to be at The Planet.

What sort of budget are you looking to keep under? That'll affect the ideal web host for those requirements.

Just from my experience I avoid anything having to do with EV1 but your experience may vary.

EV1 has nothing to do with theplanet. I believe they merged and theplanet due to its superior uptime is taking the lead on that merger. We have had absolutely no issues with their network.

The budget should be less than an average VPS cost. Means, under $50/month.

I am not sure I can say TP is best. However, I had some servers with them in the past and they never disapointed me. That's why I am looking for the resller hosting on TP server.

Can anyone put me on the right track which DC should I consider (I am not living in US anyway) and which cPanel/WHM reseller should I consider in terms of the reliability and reputation. Hostgator is the only reputable host that I know off so far. But I would like to choose the more reputable and reliable one than that. My monthly budget won't exceed over an average VPS cost for the reseller hosting. I might allot maximum of 50$ per month for a reseller account. I won't host over 75 domains in that reseller account but prefer to have the unlimited domains license of cPanel/WHM. I would use up just around 7 GB of storage but I prefer to have minimum 10 GB of storage. The monthly transfer quota should be +/- 350GB per month assuming the host has securely configured for DDoS and flood protections. I prefer the host that could gurantee me from DDoS and Floods causing bandwidth overage charges. Most of the hosted sites would be SOHO/SME business sites and thus reliability and uptime is extremely important. If the hosting provider can assure of DDoS and flood protection, the monthy quota of +/- 150 GB/month is acceptable.

From a company that was once hosted at theplanet - I can tell you with 100% certainty that this comment is a load of ****
I cannot think of any reputable reseller provider that would allocate 500 GB of transfer to a reseller account..
if you really need this much transfer, you should be looking at a managed dedicated solution

I would also recommend HG in The Planet...
BTW, have you checked ResellerZoom? Their failover plans are in NAC in NJ - a plan that probably suits you : 24g space, 480g transfer for 60$.

I gotta agree, I don't think ThePlanet is the best either.

I don't mind about being at ThePlanet or not. It can be any DC as long as they are far better than ThePlanet. I am not sticking to ThePlanet but prefer the better DC than TP.
I really do not need 500GB transfer (which I put extremely high safety factor of bandwidth overage under some mishaps). The max utilized bandwidth of my hosting accounts (less than 50) are not even exceed 10GB/month with an average of around 4GB/month only over the past few years.
As long as the service provider can gurantee about DDoS, Floods and attacks from occuring bandwidth overage charges, I am fine with the traffic under +/- 150 GB/month based on my previous mentioned traffic utilization.
