a friend of mind seems to buy alot of his hosting on ebay, do you think ebay is a good place to buy hosting? or is this something he shouldn't do?, and try looking for better places besides ebay? Well why i ask? well seems each time my friend does buy from ebay, hes been having a problems with his cpanel his space limit and other problems.. and yes most of the time he does go with the reseller plans.

Buying hosting from ebay is about as enjoyable and intelligent as buying crabs from a $2 hooker.. You get burned. ALOT!

I wouldn't go this route, but maybe that's just me.

Yeh, that pretty much sums it up! I don't think I've ever read anyone getting hosting from someone on ebay and being happy with it!

It seems like you answered your own question. Your friend has been having issues every time he buys an account off eBay. Probably isn't a good idea to get an account off eBay then

I never recommend to buy "Unlimited Hosting" on Ebay. I can say that I offer on Ebay only discounted service like installation of osCommerce or my own range of software. why? For some, it is another way to advertise services or products.

It depends, if you find a web host offering unlimited hosting then avoid. Always check for reviews and see how long they've been in business (if it's a few days old company then avoid).

I've never thought to look towards eBay for web hosting before. I might take a look to see whats on offer, but to be honest I'm not too sure how comfortable I would feel purchasing hosting from someone on there.

Again, go by reviews, look up the host, its pretty cool.

Actually, if you really think about it, buying hosting from eBay would be just as safe -- if not safer -- then choosing a host around here as there are thousands to choose from, and even the most popular ones are bad. And from eBay you at least get some sort of feedback right in front of you, how long they have been doing biz, that they have a verified PayPal account, are a US resident, ect. Just use your smarts, make sure they have good feedback (100+), offer a nice plan, but not something like "unlimited hosting for $10/yr", or some even say for life, which is bogus. Don't be fooled about some people around here, eBay is no worse from buying hosting any place else, as I said above and I'll say it again, it can end up being better. I remember way back when, I bought several hosting accounts from eBay, and some hosts were good, some were bad, and I've gotten accounts from finding hosts on google + WHT. Again, some were good, some were bad. There really isn't much a difference.

You can get "crabs" (I'll let you interpret the meaning) here in Florida a lot cheaper than that! In all reality though... I never thought of EBay before for hosting but you know the saying... "if you build it they will come".

Ebay is just another form of advertising. Just like ads here, ads in magazines, ... Buying anything from an advertisement requires due diligence. Even crabs.
