Windows Plesk reseller

Posted by princo, 02-05-2007, 07:36 AM
I have one Windows reseller Plesk 8.1 account with a hosting company. Sub-users I create (domain owners actually) can't change their own password for Domain Administrator (only I as a reseller can't do it) and in ASP.Net Enterprise management there is no option to import database, as host says if they grant me or end users import option it automatically grants admin right to whole SQL server?!? Since I'm new to Plesk I'm not sure if this is normal or not?

the import option requires granting permissions of database administrator other than the default dbo , database reader/writer. This is infact a potential threat as i have seen it display the list of databases in the server when connected remotely. It would not provide entire admin rights , but the ability to see the databases and the users..i guess it s a problem with one of the service packs which is released...

Well to me it seems Plesk reseller account is more a webmaster account, than real reseller account. HELM rules

That's correct. Plesk wasn't designed for reseller services; that's what they made Plesk Expand for.

That's very typical, most hosts would run it that way.

What Window's resellers are you guys using and do you recommend them?

www.eurovps.com I have VPS with them and Windows Plesk reseller. All the problems I had were related to Plesk itself. Eurovps has lightening fast support, fast servers and network is great (i'm in europe). I planned to switch my windows customers from HELM to this plesk reseller package, but now seeing that Plesk reseller account is not near HELM reseller account I gave up temporary on this. EuroVPS advised to get Plesk VPS since then I can get full ownership but I'm not into messing with Windows server at all.
