Dedicated SSL IP Question

Posted by BlamDan, 03-17-2012, 09:11 PM
I have a VPS with 2 IP's. One IP is the shared/root IP. Both IP's are used for nameservers. Can i dedicated the second unused IP to a domain for SSL? or SHould i get another IP?

Yes. The SSL virtual host will not interfere with DNS listening on the second IP.

The IP addresses assigned to BIND will not interfere with your allocation of IP addresses otherwise (either dedicated for sub-accounts or for implementing SSL.) Your "root" or "reseller" account should always have a dedicated IP if you can, then you can have a valid SSL certificate for your WHM/cPanel and WHMCS logins. You can assign your second nameserver IP to another account if you wish, and your nameservers will continue to function as they do now. <> Last edited by Mike V; 03-18-2012 at 08:34 PM.
