VS Hosting - Some logic - FRAUD
Posted by Grafic, 12-18-2006, 06:18 PM |
I was with VS Hosting for a couple of years and they were a great host...
Then it all went to pieces when the company was bought out by 'some logic'
I and many others on this forum had a nightmare time with servers down and a complete lack of response from the company ... they completely disintegrated.
I finally said goodbye to them in November of 2005.
Today, they charged my credit card $347.71 in unpaid fees !!!
and they tell me that I still owe $107.91
Can they do this???
Is this legal?
I informed them that I was going... in fact I demanded 3 months refund from them as the servers were continually down... but as usual there was no response from any emails or tickets sent and no other contact information available anywhere.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Unpaid fees?? Did they explain what these "unpaid fees were"??

No.. I'm just assuming its outstanding fees...
It just says,
Invoice Amount: $347.71
then it says
'Outstanding Balance' $107.91

To make it simple on you, get your paperwork in line and call your bank (if its a visa, mastercard, amex, discover) and request a chargeback as fraud and they will 98 percent of the time return the money to you. You will need to do this in a faily quick amount of time.

I agree with Chris. They should have contacted you about any "unpaid fees" that you had on your account as they do not have the right to just charge away on your credit card as you did not authorize that charge. Can you post the details of the invoice? The community may be able to better assist you once we understand what it is you're being charged for. If you have documented cancellation requests and confirmations then you can definitely do a chargeback.

Do you canceled your account properly as is stated at http://www.vshosting.net/tos.php ? I mean, some people think that because they are not using the account anymore is synonymous of being canceled.

It looks like they did stop charging him for ~1 year, nor did they invoice him during this period of time. That wouldn't happen unless there a cancellation was active. It does look like a serious billing issue, but it's not the first time we hear about such a problem in the hosting world.

Thanks for the replies...
Jedito pointed me to the VShosting TOS (which has been down for over a year now) and there it states that cancellation of accounts should be done by email and to quote the tos;
Go Figure....
What is one to do if they don't respond nor do they publish any telephone or physical address????
Anyway..
I got a response from their ticket system (the first one in over 18 months) stating that they have removed me from their billing system. I think my bank has issued a charge back so all seems to be in order now.

If this ever happens again, contact the bank asap, and advise them not to honor the charges from the company.

I've been with VSHosting for years. Any issues I had were resolved quickly and they had an excellent on-line community. Now my and my clients' services (websites, e-mail, etc.) have been down since early December.
I never received notice that the company was changing owners. The new owner, as stated elsewhere, appears to want to lose customers.
The support staff haven't answered my questions or resolved any issues. The information they've provided has been incorrect. This is a complete nightmare.
I plan on reporting the company to the Better Business Bureau and am going to review other hosting/reseller options today. I should have done this weeks ago.

Good to hear it worked out for you Grafic.
This just shows how bad an effect a take over can have.
