Are you ready for this. The latest sham of my site5 account for resellers I cant transfer accounts if I try to transfer to another host the transfer fails.
You can not manually back up the site the links dont work through cpanel. Apparentlly they trying to make sure I can't ever leave them.
Emailed support 8am its 6PM still NO answer.
I am just amazed how bad site5 has became. Its mind boggling. This is the worst host I have ever had by 1000000%
anyone know how to generate a back up when the host disabled the feature?

I have tryed this function and can get backup of the accounts on CPanel at this time. If this function doesn't work on your Cpanel when inform it to Site5. Now we are working another company. But we have still hundred and hundred domains on Site5(we could not move all of them yet). The uptime is good. But the servers of Site5 unsecure and work very slow. Their support is poor and very slow at this time. They are getting worse everyday.

Hi,
They probably disabled cpanel backup as it is very resource intensive when users backup gigs of data, zips it , and does md5.
Some clients will do backup one after another before the first process is done. This causes very high IO and server crash.
This is probably why cpanel backup is disabled.

If the host disable the backup feature, you have to backup your websites manually (~download files and backup database in phpmyadmin)
Maybe you can contact a new host and see if they can transfer your sites for free.

The only option you have is very time consuming. Download all files using ftp, and your databases using phpmyadmin.
You could try and request Site5 to provide you with a backup since they have disabled backups, but it looks like you have already tried that and failed.

Yep, I'd agree with that. I do know their netadmin skin doesn't have the "Generate a Full Cpanel backup" option available.

You don't need that backup feature, to move your sites off. Just give your new host the username and password for each domain that you'd like moved off, and they'll take care of the rest.

That doesn't work when you have large sites. Anything around 250 mb or above you start to see issues. Sounds like they have that feature disabled also.

That's only if you use the "Copy an account from another server with account password" feature from WHM. I wouldn't touch that with a 40 foot pole. Our inhouse migration script handles multiple incoming migrations without breaking a sweat.

Hello,
I'm very sorry to hear of your issues with site5, sadly site5 has been getting alot of bad reviews on here. However this should be a valued lesson for you and others, as this shows how you should check out a host and their features before you sign on board. the only other option i see you have at this point is what others have said; backup each account manually through ftp, and then do the DB's through phpmyadmin.
Best of Luck,
-Shaun-

If your new host is equiped with WHM you can transfer your account using the
Copy an account from another server with account password or Copy an account from another server functions.
Or if you have ssh you can use tar to create a tarball of your files.
