Can Anyone tell me what's going on with varhosting.net, I have a reseller account with them , been down all day... I haven't been able to get in touch with anyone from that site...are they out of business or what? I'm on node 5....

Have you tried calling the phone number in the whois? It appears that the guy listed his home phone and address. It also appears that they are a reseller of "tripodsupport.net" or for some reason user their nameservers, and those nameservers are down because the name registration lapsed. *edit* A few threads down: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=535301

http://www.webhostingstuff.com/uptim...ostingnet.html Interesting, downtime on their servers seems to be slowly climbing, decreasing by .1% every month.

I amcurious to know what their deal is also...I suggest backup everything.

2 days ago I transfered all from their premium server and the uk1 server to another host. That's what I would suggest instead of only create backups if they come available again ...... I think their main website is down for the past 2 days, or I have an very local problem. (I figure their server is up that hosts their main website, must be an DNS issue ... http://67.19.22.237/v2/ )

if their domain has expired, can't be a very professional host!

oh my god,... their website is still down.. wat happened to them... the bungeecode.com is downed as well.. where should i go to get support ????

Mistakes happen, but it's how one deals with them that often tells the true story. It's very strange though that a domain of such crucial importance for their company was neglected like this. Still down at this point in time.

IMAO now thats funny But doing an whois it shows to expire 2006-11-07 (that is 7th november, right?) And this is the name servers they use at the moment (in registry data): PLEASEDROPTHISHOST11156.TRIPODSUPPORT.BIZ http://whois.domaintools.com/varhosting.net It sure is an funny host .... glad I dont need support from them anymore. Just waiting for them to come online to issue an cancelation, I got my accounts transfered allready. And even if you would ask about it, you know the answer allready: "Let me check that for you" "Please give us some time" Ah, and now they feel what they give their customers themselves as a matter of downtimes Last edited by wim20178; 08-01-2006 at 08:00 AM.

The domain expires on: 07-Nov-06 correct. I would never let an important domain go that long without renewal.

My server was down for 3 days once, this is when I switched hosts to HostGator. Though I was having problems canceling my account, it took them over a week to do so only because I posted here. See my thread. http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=535301

Curently looking for a decent host , but I still need to backup all the site on my account with them and sql is still down...

Even worse then that, this is how Roj operates. If anyone looked at his past you'll see hes always had shotty business practices.

i wonder how it come that varhosting it self is down aslo tripodsupport is also down, the problem is not being a domain expired I think that the issue is more than that i think tha VarHosting Domain hacked by some one becasue it is not logic to make the name server is the main website with that name servers PLEASEDROPTHISHOST11157.TRIPODSUPPORT.BIZ PLEASEDROPTHISHOST11156.TRIPODSUPPORT.BIZ VarHosting is being Hacked!!

Posted by CyberHostPro, 08-01-2006, 04:36 PM
ahhh that explains everything..... well if they been hacked, i can feel sorry for them.

If they cant access their domain anymore which is registered by godaddy.com to correct their nameservers, why don't they email their customers to notify them and give them an alternative way to contact them? In wurst case they could make their website surfable by IP address or register/add an alternative domain name to access their website. If I am not mistaken, this is going on for atleast 4 days by now, wurth it to come up with an solution ...

Where are ya roj! :/

Posted by wim20178, 08-01-2006, 10:40 PM
Their website is back online except for their sub-domains like support, lpanel or clientexec. But you can atleast open an live chat if they are not to bussy to ...... ah never mind ...

Very strange, considering that they send out quite a few notices for the domain renewal. Maybe he didn't want to run Tripodsupport anymore, and forgot that the varhosting domain was pointed to tripodsupport? IIRC, he has around 5 to 10 servers, are they all down, or is this only about the main site and server? Oh, and for those pointing out uptime at Webhostingstuff.com. It's generally known that it's unreliable at best, and easily controlled at worst. Besides, it only checks ONE server (the one where the domain is on)

Posted by ramavps, 08-02-2006, 04:32 AM
i think that Rng Roj must come here and explain for all every thing happned as their CS sayed we were down becasue we change the new design

www.hostgator.com, I moved to them and loving it!

Posted by poliedro, 08-05-2006, 05:59 PM
i had a very bad experience with them a few months ago.

Posted by wim20178, 08-05-2006, 06:14 PM
Ah me too but instead to cancel he offered an switch of node which I did. That solved the problems for little while. But overall when I look back over all the time I have been with them, I only remember problems. But maybe thats because I had an total of 3 accounts with them (windows, uk1 and srv1). Srv1 should have been an premium account over other nodes but turned out like any other node. Currently I got 2 cancellation tickets opened for 2 days and I see that it has not yet been viewed yet. I guess their is an waiting line for all cancellations? Total time with them since I moved to their premium server since 9/14/05 Before that I dont remember as I dont have that welcome email anymore, some months ... Looks like some people are angry with them just like I am and a few others are too. I bet they've lost customers. Alot!

Posted by wim20178, 08-08-2006, 01:03 AM
lol, even I switched those accounts I had on their uk1 server, I thought to keep that one some longer as an backup. But have now canceled that one too. I guess they got once again an massive downtime on that server. But this time they passed the weekend, congratulations to VH Not that they have reviewed my cancellation tickets btw ....

wim20178 , You must be lucky. The UK server have been down for 30 hours again without any good answer from varhosting as usualy. I was also on the way to migrate but I had 3 accounts left. And on them I had only a 1 week old backup. So I am angry by my self why did I not migrate faster and why did I not take a backup when going to sleep sunday evenimg when I was to tired to do the last 3 accounts. Hans

Yes, I know such is verry frustrating but I have learned the last couple weeks that its every weekend price at VARHosting. Then when I transfered my accounts I was surprised to see it stayed up the weekend. How ironic ..... monday the downtimes started ...... I have now also removed the monitoring service on those accounts as its wurst then spam! Just get those last 3 accounts as soon it comes back online. You will find an relaxed feeling once you got your accounts at an reliable host. Atleast I am not affried to go to sleep at night and wonder if I get mad emails or how I will explain downtimes if even VH does not keep their clients updated on their issues. Somehow I got the feeling that they kept silence just in the hope we were at sleep and not aware of downtimes. Don't wake sleeping dogs! But on the other end, we are not sleeping 30+ hours!! Anyway, you will find your releave once you are far away from them.

If they've been hacked that may explain some of why one of my sites with them has had some strange goings on - here is a sample of some of the pages that were not found, but looked for on my site: zhuzhu.asp hackercc.html /testhost.htm hast.asp /thehacker.txt /y-underground.htm /hackercc.htm /hacked.htm /hacked.html I'm looking elswhere for hosting, but I haven't had the problems others have had - and have found good help there when I needed it.
