mod_security Gotroot Ruleset Question
Posted by Ricjustsaid, 10-14-2011, 04:32 PM |
Hi guys! I'm trying to get the Gotroot mod_security ruleset installed for a cPanel box. At the moment, I'm using a set of rules I came across a long time ago, but I'm looking to replace these rules with the free Gotroot rules for more security as they seem a lot more comprehensive than my current ones.
I'm reading the Atomic wiki on installing the rulesets for cPanel, but the instructions require mod_security 2.6.1. Does cPanel support modsec 2.6, or does EA still install 2.5 as it did a few months ago? Is there a way to check which version I'm running?
Another question for you security experts here... Can my old rules conflict with the new ones? Would it be best to remove the current rules prior to setting up the Gotroot ruleset, or can I safely run the current rules and Gotroot ruleset together?
Thanks!

You can run multiple rulesets together, but you may not need your older rules. Our rules (the gotroot rules) are faily comprehensive by themselves.
