RZ HICCUPS...Hic! Hic!

How many hours will you give to your new web hosting company to set-up and transfer all your accounts to their servers? Post 91 hrs of receiving my welcome email titled “Reseller Zoom :: Account Ready”, I am still wondering if I did make the right choice???!!! My reseller account still not set up to my requirements. Approx… 93 Hrs before I wrote this post… I applied for an Advanced Reseller account from RZ. Was happy to see an ‘Account Ready’ email in my inbox in just a couple of hrs… with all the requisite details. Had a chat with their tech guys and moved a support ticket for transfer of my accounts to the RZ servers. Had mentioned all the possible details I could give to avoid any delays. And I didn’t have many accounts too, just a decent number. I was told that it will be done in 2-3 Hours max! Whoa! Nice bet! So I had already made my TTL settings, and right away went for a DNS change as I verified to see my accounts being moved. Then I got an email from them saying that the transfer was complete and there were no issues. As anybody would, I did believed them say this. Seeing my website up onto their servers and displayed so by my ISP I was overjoyed for a minute… But all the goodie-goodie time was not here for too long. I logged in into my website email to find that no mail was transferred. So I started checking up more things… Heck… Not a single database transferred… A client site having a busy forum was down. I contacted the tech on chat and also moved a support ticket simultaneously. So those guys seemed to start working again. After an hour, they failed to transfer the accounts. So my previous host forwarded to them the root account details for my old server. I thought things should be an easy cake for them now. After a few hours I get a new email, saying that all the mails have been transferred and so the databases. I thought “Lucky Me”. So just checked up a few accounts. Still one account was with an empty database (small issue that I thought I cud fix). But more serious mis-configurations come to light - One account was missing out of my whm and cpanel. When I checked its IP it was shown to be hosted on some other server. So I contacted them back with the issue. And they said they will look into it. Also I realized that my emails on the webmail could not be marked as read. Everytime I read them, they kept being new. Now this was sick and irritating. All my accounts with the same issue. I reported this to them. Also when I tried updating my databases, or as my clients complained, they constantly got an error as ‘duplicate value’ for any entry they tried to make. So it was almost unusable. After contacting the tech chat they informed me that my old host was on Mysql 4.1 and the server assigned to me was running on Mysql 4.0. So they (without my consent) converted my Mysql 4.1 databases to Mysql 4.0 format. That’s why the compatibility issues and errors. Now they asked me to move a request to the Customer Service to assign me a server running on Mysql 4.1. Ok fine I did that. But it was just a bad luck for me, that the day was a Friday. And the CS department was off for two days. Sulking and cursing myself over my decision to move to RZ, I changed my account back to my old web host so that @least the forums on my account get running. And I get no more complaint calls from my clients. Soon on Monday, I asked the Customer Service Department the status. They said that they have moved a request to the Technical Section. At the end of the day... I receive an email that I have been assigned a new server and they are transferring my accounts from my previous RZ server to the new one. Ofcourse I did not want that! All the accounts on my previous RZ server were just a piece of junk! In the last two days, my mailboxes were updated, forums were also updated, and clients did make a hundred changes in their accounts. So I sent a support ticket, chatted with the tech guy, explained them the issue. On receiving no response post a few hours, I updated my ticket and did submit another also. Yet no response. The next day I get an email with my new server IP and a note that all the accounts have been transferred. I login to find that they are the still old junk accounts of my previous RZ server. Also to discover that my account resource limits were 2GB space and 50GB b/w (the same as my old host) and I did pay for 5GB space and 75GB bandwidth. Now this is real uncanny. After emailing them a couple of times mentioning both the issues, I got a response that the ticket has been moved to Customer Service Department which will update me through email only the following day. Still I have submitted a ticket for transferring my accounts from my old server to the new server on RZ with the root account details and yet no response. Their Technical Chat is also down…the one they proudly title 24X7.. SO its down for the last 4 hrs and absolutely no response from them… My sites still hosted on my old web host where my account is about to expire! I guess I will have to order a money back with RZ… only to quit to join some other host. Although, I am still waiting for a reply from them! I thought I had made a perfect choice after reading all positive reviews of RZ and being so passionate about this reseller industry favourites. I was so very wrong… Looks like they cannot cope up with their increasing resources and clientele! With this post I do not intend to put RZ down in anyway. I am just sharing some of my experiences that should help RZ to provide better service. I still see posts in many forums highlighting “RZ Rocks”. All that I can say right now, is that I am just keeping my fingers crossed hoping that I realize the same soon…

thanks for sharing your expierence. MySQL 4.0 is quite old now they really should update it for security reasons! 24x7 support, do they advertise this is both online via chat or just 24x7 tickets?

OK just to updare those.. who are reading this thread. Well I have been assigned a new server now. Things look relatively fine with all my accounts and databases restored. But still my mails have not been retrieved. All for a silly reason. RZ put me on a server with mbox style mail system. While my web host was on mail dir format. So the incompatibility in transfering mails. I thing RZ shoul upgrade their mail system from mbox style to maildir. Mbox style is obviosuly the inferior one! One that is lesser relaible than maildir and truely hogs on system resources for larger mail accounts as of mine. I am still waiting for them to restore my mailboxes! 5 days down now...

Ouch. Still, at least you are making some progress. Have you suggested the conversion to them yet?

Yes I have suggested them a conversion. They have just said that conversion will take lots of type and huge system resources andthat they would consider it on one of the weekends.
