Jodohost - slow in Chicago!
Posted by cleininger, 06-20-2006, 12:22 PM |
Has anyone else reselling on Jodohost experienced slower than average load times for pages?
I have been having significant trouble with slow/sluggish loads and sometimes timeout issues with the pages I just moved over to a new account with them.
I moved from DIY (thank god!) where the pages loaded without issue. My FTP connections are also very flaky with Jodo. Dreamweaver throws the "waiting for server" CONSTANTLY while transfering files.
Jodo support says everything looks fine. Ping times are ok, tracert looks alright... ARG!
I'm in the midwest (Chicago). I thought that it was perhaps my connection until I tried it on another network in another town and got the same thing. Then a customer just emailed me to tell me his page is loading slower than it was before and timing out on occasion... a simple static site mind you.
Has anyone else had issues of this sort with Jodo? I had gone with Jodo for the reviews they got on here but so far I've been very dissapointed with the performance.

This doesn't sound like a network issue at all, but more of a server related issue. I bet the server you are on is overloaded causing the response time to be much higher...it would be the same if you were within 2ms of the server as well.

I'm just suprised that I haven't heard anyone else discussing or complaining about it on here. Jodohost seems to be a fairly active topic and member of this forum.

This is not a support site, but we have replied in ticket.
Tanmaya replied with the one that you said was the slowest, and it was configured to use a remote SQL server. We will continue working with you on ticket regarding this.

Hi Stephen,
Yes, that was right on with the SQL server address. That fixed the SQL performance issue and I thought it was all set until I received the email from one of my users also telling me that his site was slow.
Thanks for the response here Stephen...
Just for the record everyone... I have been VERY happy with Jodohost's response on support so far and none of this is to imply that they are not a worthy host.

We try to make sure all issues get resolved
Also Tanmaya found a cronjob that was running details on our forum about that matter, and I have been monitoring the sites since the cronjob was fixed and it is working well.

Stephen,
My first test was very promising... quick load times for the sites I checked. Thanks again for being so responsive and following through. Aside from uptime, this is the kind of stuff that is most valuable to me as a reseller.
Thanks!
