Any private label dedicated server reseller program?
Posted by Nish, 03-23-2006, 06:22 AM |
Can anyone recommend me a provider who offer reseller program for selling dedicated servers?
Is there anyone who are offering private label solutions, up to the level of inserting our name in reverse ip lookup data?
Thanks in advance

I would recommend LayeredTech for their dedicated reseller system.
As far as inserting your information for RDNS after a server is deployed with any host you could request to have the RDNS of your IPs changed. However, when an IP is whoised it will show the real owner of the IP addresses.

Thanks BPrintz,
for the quick reply, do you know any company, which handles support also?

As for the IP's no one can do that unless you have your own ARIN swipe.
Why would you even need that.
For instance I own all my equipment I am colo in the Gnax data center, when a whois is done on the IP blocks it points back to GNAX as owning the IP's.
I am not trying to pretend I own the data center, that is just dishonest.

Nish,
When you say support do you mean support for your servers or your customer? i.e. Do you want a managed solution for your servers or are you looking for end user support only? Either way this will raise the price significantly.

Good recommendation. Before I became an employee at HF, I resold dedicated (not on any program) for HostDime, not a good idea. I switched to LayeredTech, and things were smooth sailing with them.

there are plenty out there and most places wil let you resell them, but layered has a pretty decent system in place and they are always trying to add new things and offers geared for resellers so that is pretty nice

HostFrog.com also has a good dedicated reseller program.

Doesn't a swip only give you control over the PTR dns? It still shows the allocation in the reverse lookup. I don't think you can hide who ARIN actually gives the ip addresses too, anyway. I could be wrong. Anybody?

It really all depends.
Most hosting companies offering dedicated/managed servers don't cater to the private label market. Part of what I do is help companies develop a private label environment. Yes, you are right, ARIN whois lookup will show the real owner of the IP, however, if the hosting companies register a third company name (generic) that is like "unseen Corporation" or "notlabelled, Inc." or something like that, then even a whois doesn't tell you much. There also other things that need to be arranged in a particular way to mask who you are actually reselling for, but I felt I only had to answer the one. I can refer you to a few people that can help you out in this regard, but what is your target market? High end or low end. Most of my clients refuse to sell and dedicated or managed services below $200/mo as it is not in their best interest. You can't offer good support and sell cheap. People can tell you that, but it is just not feasible and the longevity of any company trying to undercut will lack in so many areas that it eventually leads to selling out, closing down and other nightmares.
