Apache Log showing Adult sites
Posted by kshazad86, 04-28-2011, 03:25 PM |
I have a problem... I recently checked the Apache log, and next to a sites name, the referrer is shown as some adult site:
Can someone let me know how this has happened, what can be done to stop this?

Hi
Bascily there will be a link on an adult site to a website on your server.
If you want to block it, then find the ip of the site and put a block on that IP.
Thanks

I don't understand...why would an adult site point to one on my sites on the server, especially as its a normal wordpress blog...what good does it do for them?

Hi
Goto the site and search for the site that is been hit and you'll see.
Someone may have it as a Signiture or something.

Neither site (the one hosted on my server nor the adult one) is pointing to each other...I'm assuming that the links may have been removed?
Also, is blocking the IP address of the adult site the best option of preventing this from happening again?

Or it could just be referrer spam. They visit from that site (manually or via spider/script) to get the name in your logs, and if your logs are publicly viewable, they get a back link.
