European Reseller's

Posted by psykik, 05-14-2005, 11:32 AM
Hello all, I'm planning to buy a new reseller plan to host european clients on. Since the people I'm most likely to buy hosting to are people I know from class (Computer sciences) SO they are more demanding in a way as others. Getting a european reseller would definitely improve speeds for them. So If you know any good resellers on european ground (main land) my wished specs: -about 5 GB (a bit more or less) -about 50 GB bandwidth - unlimited domains/Db's/e-mail - Cpanel/WHM or dual solution APACHE - WINDOWS without windows capabilities: under € 20 with windows: a bit more.... and then at last, I know have a reseller point to my nameserver ns1, ns2 I've read a few posts that using ns3, ns4 nameservers to point to another server is actually possible Is that Really true ???? or is that not recommended ? thanks for the tips Psykik

Posted by teto9001, 05-14-2005, 01:10 PM
me too.. i need an european reseller account. I'm testing some american accounts but the speed aren't good as my european sites!

Posted by Jim_UK, 05-14-2005, 01:12 PM
Psykik, You may have to increase your budget as it's unlikely you'll find a 5GB/50GB reseller account for £13.

Posted by psykik, 05-14-2005, 01:38 PM
I've seen eurovps.com offering a 10 GB package for €16 I've seen site in the netherlands offering it. so it's possible... (though some say they are located locally but when one does a trace it shows they are just lying) I'd just like some feedback about the ones located in europe. I'm sure they do exist if they are reliable that's another story. this is why I post it here

Posted by Cyclon, 05-14-2005, 04:57 PM
They are located in Netherlands, but they are lying about everithing else. My advice is to just stay away from EuroVPS.

You might want to check out the following reseller providers from the Netherlands: TrancePitt.nl synssans.nl leaseweb.nl Portnap.com Citus.nl hostingworX.net Good luck

Posted by Deusx, 05-14-2005, 05:44 PM
I suggest you stick with reputable company's Catalyst2.com is highly recommended.

Posted by psykik, 05-15-2005, 04:57 AM
thanks for the links but they are quite pricy I mean some of them are even theft imho --> leaseweb €5 for 1 MB of diskspace €10 for 5 MB who's actually buying stuff like that any more "budget" costs still welcome. Now I know I asked for hosts on european grond, so I know they'll probably be a bit more expensive. But in countries like the netherlands and germany I noticed costs are going down a little. so they must be some of them out there.

Posted by TheSpidre, 05-15-2005, 07:35 AM
Check those: Trancepitt.nl Portnap.com Citus.nl hostingworx leaseweb and synssans are dedicated server providers

Posted by psykik, 05-15-2005, 08:53 AM
thespidre thanks for the links but you already posted those

Posted by kpsservices, 05-15-2005, 08:02 PM
look into 1and1.com their parent comoan is in Europe. They are large and pretty reputable from what I hear.

Posted by dodo1, 05-16-2005, 05:44 AM
Hallo, I've registered many of my domains with a German provider called "all-inkl.com". That's one of the best pro- viders here in Germany and they also offer reseller hosting. So you should check it out whether it meets your require- ments or not. Well, I can recommend it: all-inkl.com.

Posted by psykik, 05-16-2005, 10:08 AM
thanks for the links... will investigate i'll post host that I find interesting here as well for future users who might ask the same question

Posted by psykik, 05-16-2005, 10:13 AM
aah forgot to say: if you are from europe but host your sites in the states I'd love to know from which part of the states, which state, which datacenter you seem to have experienced the best performance.... for me: I have sites @ the planet in dallas --> mixed feelings about network performance I have sites @ onewilshire --> beter performance (though further away)

i've a shared plan on totalchoice hosting and speed is very good. i've also a reseller plan on surpass hosting, and speed is excellent. but here in italy i've only a adsl that can download at 150kb/s! now i'll see where are these servers located!

Posted by teto9001, 05-16-2005, 11:14 AM
from a visualroute traceroute i get these results: totalchoice: virginia (but in the site there is no virginia datacenter, the nearest is washington) surpass: florida (but in the site i can't find a "datacenter" section!!!!!!) if you need more details, i'll ask the supports...

Posted by teto9001, 05-16-2005, 11:26 AM
the surpass datacenter is really in orlando, florida. datacenter name: DIMENOC

Posted by teto9001, 05-16-2005, 11:40 AM
yeah, also the totalchoice support confirmed me that i'm hosted in the east-coast datacenter, the one in washington http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/east-coast-dc.html

Posted by psykik, 05-16-2005, 12:32 PM
thanks for the infor teto9001 much appreciated I guess if I take another US based server it will have to be on the EAST coast around NY, washington, New jersey

Posted by teto9001, 05-16-2005, 12:44 PM
i recently bought a reseller plan located in NJ, but the speed is always under 30kb/s actually i'm testing 4/5 US hosting reseller accounts. good luck, and let me know if you find a good hosting with high speed from eu!

Posted by swflnetworks, 05-16-2005, 06:52 PM
Could it be possible that your INTERNET connection is slow, and not the server itself. I have 512kps, and can only download at 66kps.. So it sounds more like YOUR slow, and not the SERVER.

Posted by teto9001, 05-17-2005, 02:38 AM
i've got a 1.2mbps connection, from fast servers i can download at ~150kb/s. so, if i can download from a surpass hosting server at 100kb/s i'm happy (but i'll not sign up 'cause i've heard bad voices on them). instead, from that plan located in NJ i can only download at 30kb/s or less... i don't think it is my internet connection! so.. i'm still lookin for a good speed from europe!

Posted by psykik, 05-17-2005, 06:56 AM
well I have a DSL 4,6 Mbps line and the speed of downloads drops from datacenters like the planet... while downloading from servers here in europe I get a more constant rate of 500 Kb/s

Posted by teto9001, 05-17-2005, 07:31 AM
My tests at the moment have Surpass on the 1st place (but as said i'll not sign up with them) at the 2nd place there is QualityHost. I'll keep this info updated in the next days!

Posted by hfohrman, 05-17-2005, 03:45 PM
I just pinged my 2 different servers over in US. One at varhosting and one at Surpass and the pingtime is exact the same. But when pinging another testserver in NL a have round one third of the pingtimes. Sitting in Sweden. hf

Posted by eComAsia, 05-17-2005, 04:36 PM
The data center location does not affect our download speed. It happens that within Asia our download speed is slower than from a data center located in the USA, but in most cases there is no difference. It depends mainly on the internet connectivity of the datacenter and the actual traffic conditions. Ping response times of course depend on the datacenter location.

I would apprecite if you could elaborate which areas they fall short of the truth. I am considering their services and would like to look into this further. Thanks

I am eurovps.com reseller located in Finland. I have been with them only for few weeks but my aquintance has been several months. This far their service, support, policy, uptime has been great. One thing I appreciate is the transparency and straightness (somebody gave a different statement in the beginning of this thread?). They operate with real (and whole) names. The Leaseweb datacenter seems to be one of the good and big ones. Ping for me is good. I am interested to hear more from that wht forum member who told these person are lyers. Hard talk. I will keep You informed when my customer realation with eurovps is bit longer (older). I can also mention that I am satisfied Resellerzoom customer and now, when they have had things (new ownership, datacenter change etc) solved, satisfied Dailyhosting customer too (plus several co-op companies here in Finland). All good to You all! Last edited by ramppi; 05-18-2005 at 03:37 AM.

DIMENOC belongs to dimehosting?

Posted by psykik, 05-18-2005, 06:30 AM
I think Cyclon misunderstood my post.. i was not saying eurovps was lying about their location. I saw some dutch hosting sites saying their datacenter is in the Netherlands and when one does a trace you can see it's in the states. companies like that are to be avoided at all prices. and about eurovps, I'd love to hear some stuff about them. I don't know then, very few reviews here on wht very competetive costs but not sure if it's reliable... greets

Posted by psykik, 05-18-2005, 06:34 AM
what about blackicehosting ? someone know them ? I've seen their site promoted on another forum and on wht most posts are also offers they seem to have a datacenter located in denmark but I must say they have me confused with their site... it pops from one design to another, no information what so ever about plans, costs, features (I only found it buy going to the "buy" page where some info is given...) I don't think it's looking trustworthy with a site like that

Posted by teto9001, 05-18-2005, 10:23 AM
mmm reseller from 15£/month = 21.99€/month = 28.47$/month

Posted by hfohrman, 05-18-2005, 02:41 PM
I guess that EuroVPS is in NL . Find in there webpage. "European businesses need a reliable hosting company to provide them with quality hosting, but among the plethora of companies coming and going, it's nearly impossible to find this stability. We have seen many web hosting companies tout themselves as European hosting firms, only to run a trace route and determine that their rented server is in a low budget datacenter in the USA. It doesn't take 30 hops to reach our servers: Trace route to 83.149.83.62." hf

Hmmm....interesting, I ve been testing for download speeds from USA and Netherlands...via browser...USA is faster, which is quite interesting since I am located in Finland Europe and Netherlands is much closer than USA....There is BIG differences with datacenters and networks...so I will stay in USA...

Posted by Aurelian, 07-03-2005, 10:33 AM
finland does have good speeds with northern countrys such as norway or sweden... quite hard to get speeds NL-FI. Still i believe that UK has best speeds outside EU

Posted by Mniphtiik, 07-03-2005, 10:42 AM
I live in UK and I have a website hosted in the UK and I'm probably going to get a reseller hosting account... in the UK. But from what I hear Germany has some really great hosting companies, and so do NL and Belgium... If you want reseller hosting that's nice and fast... and you're prepared to pay in £ (some might do €, you never know), just get some UK hosting.

Any more info on BlackIceHosting and are their servers in Denmark as suggested?

Posted by Rolf Krake, 07-27-2005, 12:41 PM
Hi ramppi and webhotell and others, Since you live in Europe, I guess you are able to host .fi and .no domains etc. via your reseller accounts. I am currently looking for a reseller hosting plan so I can host .dk domains. To do so name servers must allow zone transfer and must be validated by DK-Hostmaster. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any hosting companies with experience in zone transfer or who could tell me what is needed to host .dk domains Have you experienced similar problems when hosting .fi and .no domains? psykik, did you decide for a reseller? Thanks, Anders, Aarhus, Denmark P.S. I'm not really looking to become a "reseller". I only wish to host some 30+ domains for me and a couple of friends (non-profit). Well best way of managing .no domains will be to signup as a Domain Registrar and we plan to do that. You can host any type of domain as long as you got a mean of pointing the domains to the appropriate DNS. We are not quite sure we will be hosting .no domains on our Europe Reseller Account, but more likely any website targetted for the EU market. I signed up for a EuroVPS account yesterday and will look forward to start testing that. Kim

Webbhotell. one question. What account do you set up on europs for test. And is there a limit in subdomains in that account (same as domains if you are at small reseller accounts) hf

Posted by webhotell, 07-28-2005, 07:27 AM
As a reseller you can set up the packages any way you want, including unlimited subdomains.

Posted by blackicehosting, 08-28-2005, 08:49 PM
No they are not. Our servers are located in Redbus Interhouse II (Meridian Gate) in the United Kingdom. If you would like any more information on the services that we offer please feel free to contact our sales department, via the details below, who will be more than happy to help you.

Posted by webhotell, 08-28-2005, 09:00 PM
Your offer looks really well then. 3 GB server space and 30 GB traffic is really nice. I might take a closer look at it then. Kim

If you are looking at UK providers then try www.forum2.co.uk and www.host-search.co.uk All UK based companies and servers at those sites.

Hi. Do they offer unlimited POP and subdomains?

Posted by Fulk, 08-30-2005, 11:29 AM
Yes and Yes, both of them.

Posted by webhotell, 08-30-2005, 04:17 PM
Nethosted looks really nice. Might give them a try.

Posted by Fulk, 08-30-2005, 05:04 PM
Do a little search before that, just for a case. That is my recommendation.

Posted by webhotell, 09-01-2005, 07:38 AM
I tried, looked fine I think. Do you have any experience that they are not a reputable host?

Posted by ketanshah, 09-01-2005, 07:52 AM
Do nethosted offer MS Sql or Mysql?

Posted by webhotell, 09-01-2005, 10:12 AM
Yes, they do.

I see that this post is some months old.... but, why are you so negative with EUROVPS.com? Don't get me wrong, is just that there are so many good reviews about them in WHT, that it seems strange to be so negative... About the lies you are refering to: Their Datacenter is in Netherlands, their main office in Athens, GREECE and they have support staff in the UK as well. I think they also have a support team in the U.S, but I am not sure. I can verify the Server hardware & software setup they claim they have, as I am testing their service during this month (purchased a Win VPS plan). We had a minor misunderstanding with them right at the beggining, but they contacted us directly and it was quickly resolved. We hadn't any major support issues (thank God), so we haven't tested their support skills to the maximum. About 3 weeks have passed and I must say that the whole service seems quite good and good value for money. Thus, I really can't see your point about them lying... If there is something that I missed, please let me know.

Posted by webhotell, 11-08-2005, 09:05 AM
I have been with them for some time now and so far I have had one tech problem, that led to them ditching their Cpanel plan. They have been very helpfull and even given support out of normal operating hours from the US.

Posted by Cyclon, 11-08-2005, 10:15 AM
Well, maybe it's just for me... I was on their reseller account, and everithing they promised me before buying I didn't get. For example I aked do I get a shared SSL with my reseller account and they sead yes, but we will put you on brend new server that doesn't have SSL configured yet but we will do that tonight. That never happend even after 2 months I was with them. When I contacted support to ask them what is happening with SSL, they told me that that is not included and it would be hard to implement or I don't realy member what they told me. The other thing was that they were just closing my other tickets about this issue without responce. I check ticket tomorrow and it's just closed (resolved) with no answer. !!! Ok, I just wanted to forget about SSL, but there were some other problems in control panel and every time they don't know the answer and don't know how to fix it they just close a ticket without answer or with some stupid answer "it s fine now", but of course it was not. Somethimes when they realy did answer to my ticket I was waiting more than 8 hours to get that answer.

Posted by webhotell, 11-08-2005, 10:38 AM
They always responded fairly quickly and nicely to me. Regarding SSL, you can buy that at any other place.

Posted by Cyclon, 11-08-2005, 10:51 AM
I know, but the problem is they lied and they didn't know how to fix some problems and they were just closing tickets without realy resolving an issue. That was just terrible for me. Maybe they improved now.

Saw just that varhosting have started up a c-panel host in Redbus UK. www.varhosting.net Hans

Posted by psykik, 11-08-2005, 11:35 AM
varhosting has good support & roj is a very friendly guy. but I left them because I didn't like their servers located at the planet. ThePlanet simply isn't providing me enough network performance. varhosting talked about getting european based servers when I was still with them. But I left them before they did. I'm wondering if they also plan on offering windows based servers in UK ?

Posted by webhotell, 11-08-2005, 11:39 AM
Looked like good plans for the London based hosting, but the website just looked awfull.

Posted by hfohrman, 11-08-2005, 11:49 AM
No it only looks like they have C-panel for the moment. No Windows. Also I do not like that they only have packages inkluding end user support: As my End users only accept Swedish support i guess that it's money in the ocean for me. But maybe I can have specials without support. I just sent an email to Roj. Hans

Posted by niyogi, 11-09-2005, 03:03 AM
Nope - we don't do Windows right now although we have a Windows server ready to go. It's just cPanel/Linux for now. :-) Take care! Roj
