nameserver on server failed

Hi, I keep getting this email every time I reboot my VPS. Any idea how to fix it or is it nothing to worry about? ===================================== Subject : nameserver on server failed nameserver failed @ Fri Mar 11 21:25:13 2011. A restart was attempted automagically. Service Check Method: [check command] Cmd Service Check Raw Output: named is not running ===================================== Thankyou

Take a look at the logs and paste the results here. It can be due to a number of different things.

I get this as well. I don't think it's anything to worry about, but love to hear others chime in.

I guess you are having cpanel nothing to worry. It is just a warning when service goes down or restarted. Obviously, when rebooted it stop and then starts after reboot.

This is certainly a common occurrence. Many times when you reboot you may get notices of several other services that "failed" right after the server comes online. Basically you get these warnings because Chkservd, which checks for services that may be offline of failed, has started before the other services had had a chance to fully boot up. Again this is nothing to worry about and can be ignored if this only happens right after boot up.

If you get this warning often, check /var/log/messages if anything is wrong with named. And, if your sites are fine at all, then nothing to worry about. You can remove this warning too.

There is nothing to worry it will be fine after the DNS propagation has been refreshed , as Kevin said its due to the Chkservd checking for services.

Sorted it thanks all, nameserver was wrong.
