Best Reseller Host? Someone that allows Overselling?

Posted by joephill, 04-06-2005, 09:59 PM
So I currently have SurfSpeedy hosting but it is SO bad I am moving out. I heard here that Site5 is good but I think they are missing in terms of support. Anyother good suggestions where I can host I am looking for something very good. Thanks

People might be able to give you some suggestions if you give them some ranges for what you are looking for. Are you looking for a particular type of control panel? How much bandwidth and space do you need? What is your budget like? With these answers someone might be able to give you some good recommendations about which hosts you could possibly look at. Once you find a host who interests you, I would run some searches here on WHT to see what kind of reputation the host has before signing up. This might help you avoid signing up with a host with unexpected problems.

Oh yeah.. and there is no "best" host out there. There is only the best host for you. Saw that in someone's signature around here and it always seems to hold true. Sorry I don't remember who's signature or I would give proper credit where it is due.

Try XeHost.net or mcoh.com mcoh's website might suck and is a template but still, their hosting is alright. I ordered at 1-2am (forgot i was soo tired) and it was up in like 2 hours

Search the WHT forum and you can find plenty of review on Site5: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/search...der=descending

I can not recall a review that said Site5 support being bad. I usually only see good reviews about them. SoftWareRevue has that in his signature. I also think a few other people have it but his is the only one I remember.

That would be SoftWareRevue, the big cheese, head hauncho, totalitarian dictator of the WHT forums

wiresix.com Offers great and affordable resellers, you should try there.

Do you have experience with them? If so, sharing more of your experience might help the thread starter to consider if they are right for them.

Right now Im with MCOH.com and their pretty good. They offer extremly great deals to people who are registered WebHostingTalk members.

I do have experience with them, they host me, they have great uptime and support and I am very satisfied. I am not sure if they allow overselling though.

Posted by RandyT, 04-11-2005, 09:58 PM
But they have great support I know for sure.

once aday most of the host allow overselling on reseller account

Posted by cartika-andrew, 04-12-2005, 12:58 AM
I sure hope not - because - this is what usually happens (or worse)... and yet, youre looking for another host that allows overselling

Posted by ldcdc, 04-12-2005, 09:26 AM
IMO overselling is not necessarily an issue and you can sure find a lot of hosts with overselling enabled for resellers. However, going for very cheap reseller hosting with overselling enabled from a new provider, is what I call asking for trouble. In other words, you need to find an experienced host with a sustainable business model.

My reseller of choice would be: hostingzoom or resellerzoom (the cheaper version of hostingzoom) I have been with them for about 2 months now, support has been very fast and professional. (meaning they take time to write real answers and explain them) Both excellent service they allow overselling and throw in a enom domain reseller account. If you have english customers, hostingzoom will actually take care of your trouble tickets! Good speeds, fast servers with not a lot of serverload (never saw any CPU time above 8% on a 4 Xenon) They use WHM and CPanel 9.9.9 with fantastico and excellet bandwith/space deals. (sorry can't post urls yet) Last edited by Digital-Exposure; 04-12-2005 at 09:41 AM.

Just now saw in one of the other threads that Site5 offers overselling and is one of the most reputed hosts.

Check out HostNetWay www.hostnetway.com I have been with them for a while on one of there shared hosting plans. The up-time is great, at least 99.99% They offer everything you will ever need for great low costs and wonderful, friendly support that is NOT outsourced Their reseller accounts are very affordableable (starting at $15.99/mo), plus I noticed that they give ClientExec to you for free. The only host you will ever need!

I am also curious but we'll never know since his WHT account was disabled.

Ok, after coming to these forums and reading all the positive feedback about site5, I signed up for reseller account with site5 six days ago. My account is still unusable. While it is not site5's fault, but rather my domain registrar's fault, I have been trying to solve the problem by getting them to change my main domain and use a domain I have with another registrar, so it all starts moving. The last two days i have been trying to get customer support to address the issue but guess what, I don't get a 15-minute reply anymore. Instead, I get a reply only once or twice a day - a reply that does not even tell me anything that I am asking but keep passing the ball. I had good experiences with Matt and Todd before, they were very professional and quick, but since them I have been emailing back and forth with this Vince guy that just won't respond to me. Sure they reply within 15 minutes. just not every time., Only from time to time. That's why I am back to these forums to see if there is some other hosting company that may be as good as Site5 or better, who can either guarantee the quick support or have phone support or something. GOD I am so sick of this. Every time it feels like I have to settle for less with these hosting companies. I'd rather pay more and get normal f%&*n' service.

who says bigger or more expensive means better. Many small hosts are on a first name basis. A request to change domain.... done. DomainsPro.com

Posted by cartika-andrew, 04-28-2005, 03:10 PM
2 completely different statements here... Bigger doesnt necessarily mean better and more expensive doesnt necessarily mean better.. However, if youre after redundancy, stability and quality support - there are prices associated with this - and frankly - there is a price point for these sorts of things in order to be profitable. If you are looking below this price point, you are guaranteed not to find it (at least not long term)...

Posted by tvoq, 04-28-2005, 03:40 PM
Apparently not. I guess phone support is what would make the difference and a small company just won't have that, they can't afford it.

Posted by WillyMore, 04-28-2005, 05:14 PM
Phone Support for you or all your customers?

Posted by tvoq, 04-28-2005, 05:24 PM
For me!!! Is that too much to ask!! I was actually OK with the idea of email support or tickets as long as I knew they would be answered within 15 minutes as advertised on Site5 website. But now that they do not respond AT ALL, I have no idea what is going on and this is just bad timing for me as I was in a hurry to set this account up to begin with. I have been trying to move from my previous host before my account with them expires. This is so totally aggravating. I was so excited when i found Site5 and now I just can't believe they are doing this. I was so hoping I finally found a cool hosting company that seemed to have it all together. Sheeeh.

Hello tvoq, May I ask what the issue is with your registrar and what it is you are asking Site5 to do?

Posted by tvoq, 04-28-2005, 05:50 PM
The issue is kind of solved now but I was in a hurry and wanted to set up things asap before my old hosting account with the other hosting company expires. Now because evrything took so long I have paid for one more month with the other company, just so I keep my websites up. I registered for site5 with a domain name that was taking forever to activate, and then when it was activated it was taking forever to get the nameservers registered. The registrar was Yahoo, and in order to register your nameservers you need to send them an email. Yahoo didnt reply to my email for 3 days, so I asked Site5 to use another domain name as a main domain which was registered through GoDaddy and the cool thing about GoDaddy is that you can register namerervers through their control panel instantly, and you don't need to send them emails and then wait forever for their response. So all this was very time sensitive, and this is where site5 decided to stop communicating back and let me know if they are gonna do it or not, and how long it will take, or anything. Now the situation is even more messed up because I spoke to site5 Live Sales team who are not supposed to help me with technical issues but I told them that the support team just won't answer my emails. So they told me I should create another account and then close the first one. I did that and now I have two accounts. But I finally heard back from Yahoo and they have set up my nameservers. I emailed site5 again, asking them to cancel my second account, no response, I was just billed for that one too. I know they will answer sooner or later but all this was just time sensitive and I was counting on their 15 minute response policy. I just hate the fact they won't respond to tell me what's going on, I feel like i am in a limbo here/ I still have no response to my last 5 emails I have sent them.

Posted by Ezmsg, 04-30-2005, 01:58 AM
I think you should have waited a few days more to avoid this mess up. Good luck. I hope everything is gonna fine.

How much space and bandwidth do you require?
