Is this a good deal that I am currently paying?

Posted by Gary King, 02-27-2005, 12:50 PM
I'm paying $19.95 / month for a reseller account, which contains the following: 6 GB of space 60 GB of bandwidth SSH FTP CPanel + all the other fancy features that is usually offered What do you think? Is this good? But, the server that I am on right now isn't 100% reliable; like, the server is a bit slow sometimes for instance.

Slow server is probably due to high memory used or high load on the server. You can use SSH to see these infos. It justifies the price you paid for. Regards,

Depends on which host are you with, some hosts has good reputations around here and their costs/specs seems a bit overselling. IMO, a good price range will be around $30 - $35. And again it's my personal view. So the question is, do you think it's worth staying?

I am paying less than that and getting 5GB diskspace and 100GB bandwidth. Earlier this month things got pretty slow but they fixed the problem so the speed is back to normal. You might want to look around if you are changing hosts.

The speed of the server depends on many interesting aspect and one of them is the number of sites hosted on it. Most of the control panels are generally optimized to hold a particular number of clients. Another important aspect is the way the server is optimized to handle the growing number of clients. Frequent optimization is needed to maintain stable and optimized speed. The amount of money you are spending is somehow balancing the service you are getting.

If you're unhappy with the service that you're getting, switch hosts. That is a good deal, however, if it's unreliable, it's not a good deal.

You are paying, you are not happy, you will have to decide whether to switch or not.

like more people say in here as reply: if you think it's not that good then you have to think about switching if you notice more slowness or less reliability i think you need to switch if reliability and speed are important for you

I think it's a little on the cheap side, sub-par quality justifies 'you get what you pay for'

That is on the cheap end but alteast it is not massive overselling. You may want to look into switching over to http://www.site5.com as they have a plan that is very close to the one you have now.

There is only one question: "Do you think your host deserve $19.95 for the service you receive?" No one else can answer this question for you. Of course there are cheaper ones, but does it mean that it is a better deal? Hosting is service business. You can not judge companies only by webspace, bandwidth, price, etc. There are too many things that can not be calculated and compared. If you are happy with your host, then it is a good deal for you.
