Cpanel Log In Advice Needed

Posted by velawan, 02-27-2005, 01:05 AM
Hi This is a repost. Thanks Joshua and Net Just need some advice. What is the best method to have my customers log in to their Cpanel? I have the following alternatives: a) Create a log- in 'username' and 'password' button directly from my webpage. I wanted to put this log in text bar from all my pages. b) Create a separate log in page. Meaning that when customer wants to log in they click on the 'Log In Button' from all my pages and they are taken to this page where they could log in. This log in page would be in my website. This is similar to the first method other here they are routed to this single page where the codes to Cpanel will reside. c) They click the log in button but are taken to the Cpanel Page Log-In page. They log in from there. Or is there other better alternatives. Is it safe to use http link or do you recommend https for all the above. Your advice would be much appreciated.

I wouldn't put a link on your site directly to cPanel... that's kind of pointless. They should get an email when they sign up with your hosting directing them to the URL of cPanel. The only link I would actually put on your site is to the Billing/Support section.

Designsforcheap Thanks for your advice. Really appreciate it. Is your concern anything to do with security? Or is it from design perspective? Regards velawan

A helpful link to give customers for cpanel is: http://www.domain.com/securecontrolpanel/ It will redirect them to https://www.domain.com:2083/ Same for Resellers http://www.domain.com/securewhm/ https://wwwdomain.com:2087/ You can then set it up on the server that so only https connections allowed.
