Degraded RAID Status - Third Time?
Posted by Johnny Cache, 10-08-2010, 01:48 AM |
Just started receiving RAID alarms on one of my nodes a couple of hours ago. I've already got a ticket into the DC for investigation. Thank goodness for redundant offsite backups.
So far on this box the drives, logic card, and cabling have been replaced. What else could possibly be throwing it off? Taking suggestions while I hear back on the support ticket.

The backplane, no doubt!

I would have to say its likely to be a faulty Raid Card. if you keep getting degraded.

What brand/model are the drives? It may be using non-raid edition drives which we have had problems with in the past. You may also double check the temperature on the drive/cards is nothing extremely high.

Good thinking. I'm just leaving the office but I'll get the info on the drives tonight. The drive was replaced, firmware updated, rebuilt RAID, still receiving RAID alarms. To be continued...

If the same disk keeps dropping out even after replacing it, try reseating all cables. You might also have to replace the backplane.

Yeh, the backplane is where I'm headed, too.
