virus-spam-stupid emails | tons of them
Posted by apachedave, 08-05-2004, 02:40 AM |
Hello everyone
i have a friend who is hosting his websites and he has several emails account.
He mentioned me that he receives tons of stupid emails containing viruses, spam, unsolicited emails, most funny thing is that he gets emails from itself but he never sends them out, or he gets them from some friends on the same host company.
He is talking about even 1000 emails a day and he is tired of this.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem??
The hosting company is not replying him and he can't leave the company.
thanks to all

Is spamassassin an option with his hosting provider? You have some options with it that will allow you to minimize the spam that he sees in his inbox. You might want to look into that.

Using cPanel?
You would need root access and put some filters on Exim. If using cPanel just check over to their forums. If your host will not respond and you won't move the site then that is something you have to live with.

Have the hosting company go to:
http://forums.cpanel.net
and search for Exim AND spam
(and or on the above)
Many people have posted means to check mail against spam databases in cPanels forums but your host will need to put the filters in place.
