Private Label Affiliate Program???

Posted by axcent, 08-02-2004, 03:25 PM
Does this even exisit? Basically I would like to find a hosting company that I could offer my clients hosting through. I would pay a fee per account, and keep whatever I marked the price up at. I don't want a standard affiliate program, because I want to set most of the accounts up and most TOS don't allow that, as I've seen. Does anyone have any ideas as the best route. I could go straight reseller/dedicated, I just don't want to handle the support/admin. So I thought this may be an easier route. Thoughts? Zack Wenthe Axcent Productions

Then how it will differ from a reseller account?

Are you meaning you sell accounts under your own brand but the host gets the money and you just earn a % of the payment to the host for each account you add? Or are you wanting to add the domains and let the host do the support under your brand? If not then it sounds like a reseller plan to me.

The difference between this and a reseller account is that he doesnt want anything to do with the billing or support side of things as far as I can make out. But he wants to sell under his own name, and keep his own markup.

But anyway CCs will be billed under the name of original host, isn't it?

Yes... You are correct veghost. I think someone would be willing to do this but it would come at a cost.

Hostwithus is right, I would like to have someone handle the logistics. I just want to have a one stop shop for my clients. So if a client comes to me, I can say that we have "x" package at 15$/mo I would then sign them up through the hosting company. The cost to me would be 10. I would get a check back for 5$.

Are you going to have your own paymnt processing setup? Also, are you planning on telling your clients that support is provided by someone else?

Take a look at wildwestdomains.com they have something that fits your needs. Not sure how brandable their hosting is, but you can set your own price above your buy rate from them.

It can go either way for payment. If the host wants to handle, then great. If I have to then great. I don't mind telling customers about the other hosts, but I would like to position it as a partnership, rather than standard affiliate programs, because most times I will set the account up for the customer.

So you would want a reseller account that the host would support your clients for you? Or do you not want to pay monthly, but pay per account? How are you planning on doing this? Last edited by HostWithUs.co.uk; 08-02-2004 at 05:16 PM.

If I understand correctly he wants to buy a webhosting companies plans at a wholesale cost and then mark them up and sell. This used to be popular, although now it seems overshadowed by bulk space/bw plans. A quick google turned up http://www.resellerspanel.com/ as an example of someone who offers this.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I am still new at the hosting business part and am learning a lot on this site. Since this seems to be a fading business model, maybe I'll investigate other options. My hang up is that I can't provide tech support. Even if I could, I simply don't have time. But I also don't like offering my webdesign clients signups through affiliate programs.

Something like this does exist. I'm willing to bet you can negotiate something like this with many hosts. (In fact I'll bet some hosts have already contacted you to set up something haven't they? ) Last edited by XTStrike; 08-03-2004 at 04:17 PM.

You could outsource your support with another company and give them main admin access. This would require some sort of special contract/agreement but I'm sure most firms would be glad to offer something like this. Perhaps hiring a dedicated tech admin.

Might want to check out Hostopia's solution for this too. They do all of the billing, support, etc and send you a check at end of month.

approach some hosts and see if they would cover support for a few dollars per domain. the small-to-medium size hosts might be best.
