hi,
i would like to ask how to actually allow squid to automatically delete its cache as i realise that my memory of 1024mb keeps rising. how do i actually limit or to delete automatically if i would to allow other users like my friend to use it too and i don't want it to increase too much.

Its better to setup a cron to delete the squid cache in regular intervals.

You would need to create a shell script to stop squid, this is important if clearing the cache, delete the contents of the data directories and then restart squid.
