reseller tools
Posted by creativeyonder, 08-01-2004, 01:24 PM |
Hello everyone
- hope your day has been good,
I'm a small hosting business, and I been looking into tools that allow people to reseller-type-things.
I have a free different version of cPanel called zpanel, and it does quite a lot of reseller things, and even more in the next release.
Does anyone know of any php based reseller tools for people who would buy a reseller account off me?
Cheers
Enjoy your day
Ryan

I don't understand your question. Are you a current hosting reseller for someon? Are you looking for "tools" that you can offer to your own customers? Are you looking for "tools" that can make your job easier?
Sorry... maybe ask your question again but try to phrase it a bit differently?

Hey, hey
Sorry for making my question differcult to understand - and thankyou for telling me!
I'm looking for tools, that customers can you to manage there reseller accounts, like add new domains and pop3 address etc.
So they can setup there OWN user accounts for people who buy/register off him/her

OK, now I understand your question.
Here is the answer:
Most hosting companies that offer reseller accounts will also offer a control panel to manage the accounts that are created.
For example, www.httpme.com offers the "WHM/CPanel" combination.
The WHM (Web Host Manager) software allows you (the reseller) to easily create new accounts for your customers, and to manage the accounts. You can specify bandwidth, disk space, view account usage, modify DNS, etc...
Each account you create using your WHM software is called a domain. So you would create an account for "yourcustomer.com" and then this domain would have their own control panel called CPanel.
The cpanel software allows your customer to easily manager their own domain. Including creation of email accounts, forwarders, mysql databases, view statistics, etc...
You can find out more information about both the WHM and Cpanel software here:
http://httpme.com/showthread.php?threadid=70
If you have more questions... just ask.

I havent seen any that are worth while and probably wont. You know what they say, gotta spend money to make money.....

Remember:
You get what you pay for.
If you want free web hosting then you are going to get extremely lousy support and service, and the tools they offer to you will not be very good.
The WHM/CPanel software prices money to license, so you will not find many hosts giving this away... otherwise how would they stay in "business"?
If you can't afford $35/month from a reputable reseller provider like httpme.com, then you may need to re-think your business plan.
Good luck!

He is asking for information concerning control panel software which enables his customers to become resellers. ModernBill and Fantastico are billing and addon scripts software, respectively.
Ryan,
As others have said, no free control panels are really worth using in your business though if you are still interested, you can find a good amount of information concerning this topic by using the search feature on this forum as free control panels have been discussed exhaustively.

I been looking at all your hosting websites in your signatures, there pro.
Compared to mine, mines just simple.. Banner, information, links.. yours is all "jazzed" up with pictures of servers, and all your hosting plans.
Im OK with photoshop, but I couldnt create any of those, and even If I did I would hate to intrigate paypal into it, because It will mess up all the images (how they line up etc).
Unless of course, I make a frame in photoshop - but hey, I dont know how to do that
Nice websites guys,

u can buy a template, which 90% of new resellers do and most templates have pics of servers and ppl and look all "jazzed" up.
if you want good ones try templatemonster.com or there are other sites offering templates for like even $5 to $ 25
good luck

There are websites that will let you download pictures such as those used in templatemonster templates. One of the keys in this business is to seperate yourself from the rest, templates from sites like templatemonster dont allow that as well as a custom site would.

Im testing zPanel - its quite good, and very similar to cPanel accept a lot less reliable. But in the next release a lot of bugs will be fixed, and more reseller options will be added to it - Including the adding of modules etc (but like phpnuke to be honest)
