Well i have problem with one of my domains.
Basically my partner changed the nameservers of a domain.
But the domains are still hosted in my server ?! stringe.
when i did dns check i got something like this
ns1.partnerhost.info
ns2.partnerhost.info
but the main ip shows my ip?! And the files still in myserver?!
I asked my partner he said " I only changed mailserver"?!

Yes, it is possible to change MX records without touching NS records at the domain level if your doman registrar provides an option for that

The dns records are split in to various records such as A, MX, NS, CNAME etc and you can change them individually if you have access to the dns zone .

For changing MX (mailserver) he do not need to change the nameservers, he just need to change the MX record inside the zone file of your domain.

This would mean that even though the name servers are changed, the 'A' record for the domain is pointing to your server and the webpages are still being served from that.
He would have changed the 'MX' record to point elsewhere which is serving the mails now.

NS ans MX records can be different for the same domain.

The ns records tell where the DNS zone file lives. All requests are pointed to those primary and secondary name servers. From there the site is controled by A records, cnames and mail is controled by MX records. He probably just changed the MX records and left the A records(website) alone. A lot of people do this, theyu point mail to google apps and point the website to the hosting provider.
