A few questions on setting up my business

Hey guys. Ok, I've signed up to become a reseller for Matrix Web Hosting. This is my first reselling experience and I just have a few questions about setting up my business model for anyone who's been involved in reselling for a while. Ok, my primary business is actually web development so my new site is pretty much all set to go up. I have a few clients that I'm going to transfer over soon as well. Now comes the time when I need to start getting serious about setting up the business itself. I don't want this new business to be some sort of weekend, only work on when I have the time, kind of business so I want to make sure I do this right the first time. Therefore, I'm not even going to really start promoting the business until I'm completely set up and ready to go. Currently, I've registered my business(sole proprietorship), have business cards, have a business phone line, just installed a wireless cable network into my house, color printer has just been set up, and services & costs have been figured out. What else do I need to do before I open my doors? I've heard a lot about creating a business plan. Do I actually need one? Also, seeing as how I registered as a small business, does anyone know if I need to register with the government for an "Employer Identification Number" or is this only for LLC's and corporations? Thanks guys and if you have any other advice you want to include for someone just starting out(tax info, sales tips, etc), I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks. -goalie35
