Dell DRAC II in PE 1500SC

I'm pulling my hair out trying to configure this thing, the software on Dell's site (IT Assistant) is what they tell you to use however it wants to scan the network looking for the device. This won't work because I bought this off ebay and god knows what it is set for right now. What is the easy way to reconfigure and talk to this card? Newer DRACs have a boot time config but no such luck here...

Not sure if you managed to find an answer for this or not, but have you tried installing OMSA(Open Manage Server Administrator)? On my 1850, I can configure the DRAC card through there. You'll need an operating system installed to install OMSA, though.

Yes I did install OpenManage but didn't see it, maybe I missed something, could you tell me where it was for you? I know that anything newer than a DRAC II has the easy setup through the BIOS and possibly open manage.

Well, apparently I was wrong. I glanced in my OMSA install before posting and saw "Remote Access" and could swear I had seen the ability to configure DRAC through there, but apparently it's for BMC only. Anyways, take a look at racadm: http://www.cs.uwaterloo.ca/~brecht/s...m/racadmc1.htm http://logan.com/sun/opteron/dell/racadmbk0.pdf racadm can supposedly be run locally(as opposed to needing to connect to a remote machine) and I believe it will do what you're looking to do. I believe some of the useful commands would be(and taken from cs.waterloo.ca mentioned above): #Displays all of the configuration parameters (objects) that are contained in the group cfgLanNetworking. #Sets the cfgNicIpAddress configuration parameter (object) to the value 10.35.10.110. This IP address object is contained in the group cfgLanNetworking #Reads all of the configuration objects, from all of the RAC group configuration parameters and place them in a file called myrac.cfg. #Configures or reconfigures the RAC. The myrac.cfg file may be created from the command specified in the previous example if the RAC has a desired configuration to be replicated. #The myrac.cfg file may also be edited manually as long as the parsing rules are followed. There should also be directions available there for resetting the password which I assume you'll need to do. Sorry for non-Dell links.
