It depends on what you're selling and who your visitors are. Some SSL certificates have various seals of assurance that give a false impression that their certificate is better / more secure than the next guys, but at the end of the day it's just a marketing gimmick. Honestly, if you're just running a typical shopping cart website then a cheap SSL certificate such as RapidSSL ($12-$15) would be sufficient. If you have the money to spend and you think your visitors will care what SSL certificate you use, then by all means go for one of the "higher end" certificates.

To me, an SSL certificate is an SSL certificate. Personally, I don't see much difference in them. There are ones that are issued to a specific domain, and others which allow the use of any subdomain. If you check out the SSL certificates offered at www.namecheap.com, it gives a small run down of what each one is. But as said above, don't spend more than you need too.

Check out GoDaddy.com too. They have some good offers. If you do buy from godaddy, do a google for 'godaddy promo codes' __________________UK hosting web services
