I was interested in reselling their services. I was just wondering, why are their bandwidth charges so outrageously high? 20 Pounds a GB? That's like 30 Bucks a GB. Bandwith Charge. Is this common among services that provide reseller services? I know they provide 50 GB of initial bandwidth, but 30 Bucks a GB, that's just crazy? Is it not? I'm just assuming this is high...Isn't it?

Yes, that is too high. You shouldn't have to pay more than $5-$6 per GB. Last edited by webfors; 05-09-2001 at 11:25 AM.

Hi, £20/gb is a fairly reasonable price in the UK for bandwidth, although it can be found for less than half that in some places, but it is always far more than you would find in the USA. Regards, Tony Lucas

usually for US is average on $3 - $6 per GB

20 (Plus VAT no dobut too) is getting outrageous in the UK now, I know for a fact that bandwidth can be purchased at slightly above USA retail costs in the UK, not quite $1-$2 per Gb but not all that much more. I think £5 per Gb is much more appropriate in the UK now.

I didn't realize that costs were so high in the UK. That's crazy!!

I wouldnt say £5 is becoming standard now, a few places offer it, but somewhere between £8 and £13 is average I would think. I wont comment on our costs as that would be advertising *grin*. Regards, Tony Lucas

Greetings All, I see donhost has 2 different costs for this. Visit: http://www.donhost.co.uk/order/pricing.html for a price that is 90% off the other. There the rate is only £2.00/GB. Additionally, Donhost's costs are inclusive of VAT, and their service is excellent. ( I am a reseller for them, and have had no major problems ) Thanks! I'm going to hazard a guess and say the second one (£2.00 Gb) is a typo on their part.

Donhosts has their ups and downs. In my experiences with them their support was outstanding until I sent them a payment. Daniel is very quick to judge people. He does let everybody know what is going on though, which is a BIG plus when you want to relay information to you users. The webservers could go down for 2 minutes, and he will let you know when, why, and how they went down.. and what he is doing to fix the problem. I asked him once if there are any options to prepurchace additional bandwidth,if I ever felt like my accounts would go over the 50gb mark. I was never given a real answer, but I did get the URL to the dedicated server costs. In my opinion, their reseller plan is perfect for web designers but not those who wish to turn their reselling into a webhosting business.
