How to run Linux and widows on the same box at the same time, HELP!

I have colocated box in Chicago..
It has quad core 2.66 GHz proc, 8 GB of RAM, and roughly 1.25 TB of disk space.
I no longer have much use for it.. I run one website on it primarily, which gets a decent amount of traffic.. but I'm nowhere close to utilizing it fully.
I was considering buying a cheap windows dedi.. but i realize that there must be a way to run both linux and windows on the same box at the same time.
My DC offered free windows serer 2003, and I'd like to somehow use that. I have a 500 GB HD that's completely empty.. and I'm wondering what software I might need to also run windows on the box for my windows based Apps.
I REALLY don't want to have to reinstall my server from scratch, as that would be a pain. Is there some way I can do this using my current configuration? Would it be stable? Hopefully free?
Please let me know asap!

Would my datacenter still be able to offer me the free windows server 2k3?
Would it ruin any of my current configurations?

You should be able to use your windows license key within your vmware windows environment.
It might. I don't know what you have setup. I doubt it though.

You could use Virtual Box: http://www.virtualbox.org/

I recommend VMware as well. VMware server is free to use and you can remote connect to just the management interface.

If you're wanting to stick to open source, Xen is also an option to run Windows assuming your server has virtualization extensions. As its a quad-core it almost definitely does, but you can google your processor and 'virtualization' to find out for sure.

Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 Enterprise. Although you will need to have the DC convert your box to Windows and then install your Linux OS. More than likely they will NOT give you a free license to use just for the VPS anyway.

I'd be curious also to know on a "side note" with Mosso how do they work their magic so they can play both linux and windows on the same directory ? is there some kind of proxy done to reroute .aspx pages to windows and .php pages to linux or what ?

Well, you can host .aspx pages with mod_mono in apache now, or you can configure IIS to work with PHP. Both ways work. There's no magic in that

My guess (or maybe I read it somewhere) is Mosso has an intelligent load balancer in front, that recognizes things like mime type and extension and redirects to an appropriate web head (so it sends you to a Windows/IIS box for a .asp URL and a Linux/Apache box for a .php file).
