I'm having a problem with website access.

Posted by lulzworthy, 03-07-2008, 03:00 PM
I just moved to a new website host yesterday morning. The setup was quick and I had the site up by last night. I was talking to some users on another board, and approximately half said they couldn't reach the site. This was using the site's URL and the site's IP address also, so I don't think propagation is the issue. I can access the site fine and a few other people can also. It is very puzzling. What could it possibly be?

DNS can take up to 48 hours to fully propogate. If it hasnt been resolved in 48 hours, I would suggest running a dns report at www.dnsstuff.com Best Regards

Thanks. But shouldn't they still be able to view the site by typing in the dedicated IP address for it? That is what is so worrisome

Ok Is the IP assigned to YOUR account? Do you have private name servers? Answer the questions , I will try help.

Yes, I have a dedicated IP assigned specifically to my account. I do not have private name servers. I can provide the IP address and/or URL of site if it isn't against board rules. Thanks for the help.

Unfortunately, I am new and don't have permission to use PM yet. I am going to post the IP address anyway. I really need help with this and the webhost seemed as confused as I am. I hope the mods don't mind. 72.20.57.204 The site's name is whofailednow.com. Again, thank you for the help.

Ok seems to be a firewall at staminus.net that is blocking the IP(which is blocking the domain
