Upgrading gcc on Mac OS X?

Hello everyone,
Is there a guide available on how to upgrade to gcc 4.2.0 on Mac OS X 10.4.9?

Are we talking about Mac OS X Server or the regular version?
Could you just compile straight from source?
I would stick with whatever binaries they provide you, to be safe.

I'm not talking about Mac OS X Server, just Mac OS X 10.4.9. The default version is gcc 3.3, and they really don't provide any binaries, at least, not that I'm able to find.
I need to upgrade because I really would like fink to work.

Wrong.
The developer's tools are not a part of the OS installation. It's up to you to keep them current.

So you're saying Mac OS X Server and Mac OS X 10.4.9 are the same? Just curious.
My output is as follows:
> gcc -v
Reading specs from /usr/libexec/gcc/darwin/ppc/3.3/specs
Thread model: posix
gcc version 3.3 20030304 (Apple Computer, Inc. build 1666)
So how would I go about upgrading gcc?

Yeah, that's exactly what I said.

Ok, I see now.
So, XCode 2.4.1 includes gcc 4.2.0?

Engelmacher: Be nice
thinksmart12: I'm sure the latest XCode contains the latest version of the apps included. I installed XCode off of the Mac OS X DVDs and it says I am using gcc 4.0.1.
